I quite often read others advice of 'just be yourself' here in the forums.

In theory it is sound advice, but realistically, when people are being 'themselves', they tend to get ripped apart by people for doing that.....tis like watching rabid dogs fighting over a piece of meat at times.

Soooo...are you being yourself on here? OR...are you complying to the masses and only allowing that which is considered 'acceptable behaviour'?

Great finding!!

All what you said is what I found correct. It's not really easy to be yourself not only here but almost everywhere in life.sometimes I think most of my life is being spent in the struggle for being what I'm really & for making others aware of my freedom to do so.

well done dude you raised a good question.

Dude....i'm not a dude.

I give up laugh

hehe....

Dude or DUDIE...laugh does it matter virtually??

Actually,I prefer to be just a soul here....no body...no sex distinction.

Sorry though.

No...it doesn't matter what gender an entity or soul is virtually or in real life for that matter. Or at least it shouldn't.

Realistically though?....so much is expected of peeps to be this perfect man or perfect woman to attract their 'perfect mate', that the pressure of doing so prevents them from forming what could be a fullfilling relationship beyond the physical. We are fickle creatures though...and I suspect that the I, I, I's and the me, me, me's fail to see that, or are purposely blinded to it.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place where one could just be? :-)

It's really easy for me to be myself here on the forums but for others to accept or judge me in a negative way is in issue that they themsleves have to entertain. My reasoning for being here on Mingle2 is to hopefully find love & friendship.

Almost 4 years of being here? What's preventing you?

To be reasonable with my answer to this question I beleive it has something to do with destiny and surly it's not my like of effort.

You are correct. If others have an issue with someone being themselves here, that's their issue.

Sometimes being yourself is not good enough. Most focus on looks and not what really counts. We try to be caring and sweet individuals only to be knocked down because we are not skin and bones or a model. If more people looked on the inside to what beauty there is then this world would be a more loving and less lonely place.

I totally agree with what you are saying. My choice is to be myself and I would rather live out my life single than to be something I am not or act in a way that wouldn't be me. I think that is one of the reasons I could care less about relationships as people say they will accept you for who you are but then try to change you. Whether they want you to be skinnier, have different colour hair, or tell you how to dress; then you aren't being yourself. I tried at length to explain to a guy that mini skirts make me feel uncomfortable and high heels hurt my back. He tried the guilt crap of if you love me; you would dress that way for me. I told him that I didn't love him that much that I would put myself in pain or discomfort. laugh

Leave the drama off of the forums.
