Right about the virtue of being a christian....

I could not be 'right' when I had not yet contributed any thoughts on it,,,, nor could I Be trying to prove I was 'right'

I merely mentioned a statement from the same person that the thread initially quoted

I offered a DIFFERENT quote to highlight the irony of such a statement from the particular source,,,

that someone would lump a whole group together that they dont like, when that group is filled with people that are still capable of not disliking that person in return

is possibly one virtue that should be 'likeable'

christians are not hypocritical for aknowledging or discussing irony,,,,,

The OP said this:

Gandhi said, "I like your Jesus, but I do not like your christians."

Your "direct" response to the OP:

Ghandi also said

'Kaffirs are as a rule uncivilized – the convicts even more so. They are troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals'

but christians like myself, are capable of forgiveness for moments like those and able to see the better side or people instead,,,

Like I said, christianity breeds hypocrisy ....Like I also said, you are trying to prove yourself right about the virtue of being a christian by dissing Gandhi while calling yourself a christian...IMO you are being hypocritical.....And since no amount of word play on your part will change my opinion, further discussion would be a total waste of my time (and hopefully yours)....

no more point than becoming a doctor and not tending to peoples medical needs

but also not relevant to being a 'robot'

MsHarmony....another bad analogy?

a Doctor is not required to tend to people medical needs,...in fact a doctor is not required to practice medicine at all, can the same be said about a Christian pertaining to Faith?

you are truly The Mistress of bad analogies

but anyway ..a Christian is commanded to love....what do you call those that claim to be Christian but do not follow the commands of Jesus

an employed doctor must tend to peoples needs or they are no longer employed as a doctor

those who dont practice are doctors only by name

I can have a law degree, but I wouldnt consider myself a lawyer if I wasnt practicing law

my analogies are fine

but if its easier for you, a doctor is required to DO NO HARM,,,,

if they do harm they will lose their license

it still does negate thair CHOICE to follow that requirement and do no harm

anymore than our laws make us into robots when we choose to follow them,,

those who dont follow the coammands are human

that is why there is Jesus great sacrfice, to compesnate for the human flaw of sin by offering repentance and forgiveness...

MsHarmony...a doctor or lawyer can still teach instead of practicing,..can a Christian make that same claim...that's why you using a doctor and a lawyer are bad analogies pertaining to you somehow believing that as a Christian you have "choice" to intentionally not follow the commands of Jesus

so I guess the most logical question to ask is

do you love Satan...

being christian is a choice

I do not choose satan

I choose christ

,, cant be clearer than that

oh oh...someone is trying to be deceptive

MsHarmony...I didn't ask if you choose Satan...I asked if you love Satan

no, I have no love for evil,,

pretty sure there are people in your life that done evil things and still doing evil things but yet you love them ..

so why not Satan?

Why would we not love Satan?

Matthew 5:43-48
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

I do not love Satan, he is beyond a mere enemy

he is evil, and I do not love evil

Sounds like you don't love the actions he does. Loving him as one of God's creations and loving the actions that are done by that creation are two totally different things.

Satans fate is sealed, he has no repentance and no forgivenss offered him, he works to defeat and separate men from God

there is nothing about him that I should love, and nothing I do love

I do not love nor hate him, I simply avoid and try to overcome the efforts and obstacles he uses to confuse and alienate

Ah, but you're still talking about hating his actions. I'm speaking of his being in general. Regardless of what he has done or is doing, that's besides the subject. I'm talking about Satan in general. Even God loves Satan, thus why he is still in existence. If God "hated" Satan, Satan would no longer be in existence.

its not for me to 'forgive' Satan, he has already been deemed unworthy of forgiveness and his eternity is sealed

people are worthy of love because none are all bad or all good and I am neither

Satan is ALL BAD< as evidenced by his fate being sealed with no room to be forgiven

comparing how I should feel about SATAN and how I feel about fellow humankind,, is comparing apples and oranges

I love Jesus for he sacrificed great pains so I could be forgiven

I love God for he gave me life

Satan holds nowhere near the same significance or have earned anywhere near the same reverance,,,

what about the angels? ...are you capable of loving them

its not for me to 'forgive' Satan, he has already been deemed unworthy of forgiveness and his eternity is sealed

people are worthy of love because none are all bad or all good and I am neither

Satan is ALL BAD< as evidenced by his fate being sealed with no room to be forgiven

comparing how I should feel about SATAN and how I feel about fellow humankind,, is comparing apples and oranges

wow MsHarmony,... now you saying the exact same bad and evil things that you complained about Gandhi saying in your first post of this thread ...that you claimed "that Christians such as yourself" can overlook

now do you see the hypocrisy

no

its like asking why I would support giving milk to cats but not spiders

its apples and oranges,,

I love fellow humankind, I have no love for SATAN,,,

nor do I feel the authority to 'forgive' him,,,

same hate message that Gandhi gave when he was comparing some people to animals...

God and the Angels are also not humankind? ..are you also incapable of loving them...

noone mentioned HATE,, I neither HATE nor LOVE satan

I love Jesus for he sacrificed great pains so I could be forgiven

I love God for he gave me life

Satan holds nowhere near the same significance or have earned anywhere near the same reverance,,,

you didn't answer the question about being able to love God Jesus the Holy Spirit or the angels seeing that they are also like Satan and are not humankind ...are you capable of loving them

God and Jesus, yes, I can love them for they are worthy through creating life and creating a path to forgiveness

I have neither love nor hate for angels,,,,
