Topic: Why no profile pictures? Why? Why? Why?

Maybe because I'm new at this and have no concept...

Why would someone not include at least ONE picture on a profile.

I view the lack of a profile picture as a gesture of rudeness; like inviting me to get to know you but with my eyes blindfolded! grumble

Perhaps you could just feel into the void for the essence that might be them ...that isn't really them ...but the them you would want them to be ...so that you could fall in love with the image that they would want you to have ...so that when you finally do see them you will already be in love and will overlook the fact that they really are a blank blue box.

Who knows biker -- people have all sorts of reasons for doing what they do. Welcome! I hope you find what you are looking for.

Could be they are hiding their fashion model looks from people who judge others on looks alone.

Its not rude when people don't have a profile picture as people have various reasons. I know of cops and teachers who are very private people; so they are hestitant to post their profile picture. I respect their right to post or not post their picture and would rather know them for who they are and not what they look like.

Thanks; I am well past the superficial stage. Looks in time will fade but personalities are forever.

I can see how you might feel that way if the person was asking you to meet. Otherwise, I'm not sure how it means they're being rude to you.

I would feel ill at ease if a person I were asking for a date or planning to meet were not open enough with me to share a photo or two with me. frown

Personally, I've recently experienced a bit of discomfort when it comes to just anyone perusing the photos on my profile, so took them down. The person I plan to meet can have all the pictures he wants of me.

I would not expect someone to meet me if they have not seen recent photos so they can put a face to the person they're getting acquainted with. I believe that physical expressions are part of a personality and if I'm going to meet someone, I want them to have as good of an idea of who I am in whole, so there will be no shocking surprises when we do meet. I think that's important.

I can't see this through the eyes of a bodacious beauty queen who has to fight men off with sticks. The problems they may face, I couldn't tell you.

I cruise right past no-pic profiles too. It's a basic human trait to rely on sight (one of our 5 senses) to examine/discover new things, especially concerning internet profiles...

I don't walk into a book store and start reading every single book I come across, good heavens I'd never be able to leave...instead I have an idea what I'm looking for and gravitate towards that book section, then I start LOOKING around a book that'd catch my visual attention...then I'd peruse it to really find out its worth.

Most professionals I know wont place their picture just to see what the site has to offer. A lot of times if there are good options they will post a picture. Usually never a clear frontal face shot though.

I'm still not sure how a person is being rude to you by not having a picture, unless you've specifically asked them for one because you're interested in meeting and they say no.

I like your idea of putting captions on your pictures. I think I will do that on my profile ....

With some of the harassment some have gotten here (especially those just here for friends, forums, chatting) it is actually not too surprising. I personally don't see it as a sign of rudeness since everyone here is free to use the site in the way that suits them best.

Also I don't believe in using another's picture to decide whether they are worth speaking/messaging to or not. I rely on their thoughts in the forum or what they have to say about themselves.

Not everyone is here for dating. Some people use this as a social site....hence the friend option on the profile. I don't have a real profile pic on my Facebook

right I periodically remove photos so as not to be judged on looks alone....not modelesque or anything

but the point is the same

only a fool would judge a book by it's cover

the problem is that by nature men are very visual and some of us, particularly some ofthe better looking, are asking you to please look beyond that and get to know us, appreciate us without seeing and valuing the physical appearance only

it is a weakness of most men that they cannot see past the physical ( and many pay for it by being taken to the cleaners eventually by their "princess") anyway, some with few or no photos are asking u to get to know us first..

I have a few photos because ... well... I'm no princess, no model so I figure ....what the heyflowerforyou
