there are some websites that offer some ideas if you do a search for constitutional issues. i know you'd probably like the ideas to be original but it may work in a pinch.

there is no

separation of church and state

in the constitution

the 1st amendment says

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

everyone seems to forget about the

not prohibiting part

if a person has a religious belief and is in charge of a federal
area who is to say that person can not have a display of their religion of some kind as long as it is not ostentatious

is that not prohibiting the free exercise there of

What about "Takings"? 5th amendment- Public vs. Private Property rights... in the environmental field this is still a very big issue- how to protect "common" or "public" resources without infringing on private property owners rights?

E.g. Lucas,

Or SWANCC,

I have no doubt you'll do well regardless of the topic you choose... and it seems like you aren't waiting until the last minute this time! laugh

I just had no Idea we had a scholar in our midst! Good for you!!
Unfortunatly this subject is not my forte...But I'm sure whatever you pick it's sure to wow them...unless everyone else picks the same subject...kind of like the election platform where everybody talks about the same old thing until your eyeballs roll up into the back of your head and you pass out from boredom...Did that help? laugh laugh laugh flowerforyou

Here's a good one - Federal Entitlements

It can be a small enough issue not be too time consuming, but can be made as large as you wish.

The point being - What is the nature of the Federal Government, according to the constitution versus the nature of state governing agencies. In this way you can contrast the two, showing the error of entitlements in our Federal structure, and place those entitlements in the State level where they belong.

It's also a good way to flow - into other areas of your assignment. For example - it can flow into the Social Security Act, into the Federal Reserve act, and into the latest entitlement initiated by GB - "Abstinance Only Before Marriage".

Now exactly what basis in constituionality does this Federal government have to put such an entitlement on the agenda????
