A witch talks about spellcraft.

http://youtu.be/yGd5ScMyeMg

I don't agree with everything she says, but she does say this is just her opinion. I don't like the saying that "a spell is like a prayer" because of the religious connotation of the word "prayer". But that's just me.

Anyway, the guys will appreciate this video because this witch is smoking hot. drool

Hahaha, that indeed says something about you  I had a problem with religion myself for quite some time, didn't know how to feel or think about it.
A spell or a prayer are indeed basically the same as both call upon Spirit. Does it really matter whether you call that God, or Spirit, or Hecate, Archangel Michael or .. or ... ?
I lived next to a small Reformed village church for ten years. In summer the doors were open and you could hear people pray and sing. And one day I realized, felt it too, that it didn't matter that they 'limited' themselves to the masculine, God, and didn't acknowledge the sacred feminine etc. They were together, bonded by their intention to call upon Spirit, to do/be good etc. Actually 'raising' good, positive energy and direct it to Spirit.
Not really different from what I experienced during spell work or a spiritual workshop with others.

I think you misunderstood me. I don't have a problem with prayer or religion. I pray all the time. And, I do incorporate my religion into my spell work. But I know atheist witches who perform spells and they do not incorporate any deity or higher power into their craft.

See, I believe that spellcraft is the manipulation of energy using my own energy along with the earth's natural energies and the natural rhythms of life itself. One does not need to be any religion at all to cast a spell.

Interesting point. But then they deny/ not acknowledge the existence of other energies? (as in 'beings', after all, everything boils down to energy)

Everyone can incorporate their own belief system (or lack thereof) into magic. Magic works exclusive of religion. Just like gravity does. It's simply unexplained science. That's why I don't like calling it prayer. Now, most spellcasters incorporate their religious beliefs into their spellcasting. I certainly do. When I was Catholic I incorporated the Virgin Mary and the Saints into it. Now I incorporate Hecate and Cernunnos. But, if I didn't want to, I could still cast a spell without them using only the techniques of turning thoughts into a manifestation.

This is why I say witchcraft is not a religion. It's a practice.

I agree, to me witchcraft isn't a religion either, I never saw it that way.
I sometimes work with Mother Mary, but I don't regard her as part of a religion. Mary, Jesus (Sananda), Mary Magdalene, are Ascended Masters, just like Quan Yin, El Morya, Kuthumi and so on.
There was mention of archangels and angels before religion was 'invented', so they're not part of religion either. I always thought they were, found it very confusing at first. But basically they have nothing to do with the church, it's just church that presents it that way.
So I sometimes work with Ascended Masters, (arch)angels, but also fairies, devas and so on. Some of that stuff I still find difficult to grasp.
I also done stuff with trees. Very interesting. You ever done that? For me that was a direct result of my interest in Fairies, as many flowers and trees are connected with them. Hawthorn is my favourite.
I started to feel the difference between hawthorn, oak, elder, alder etc. I really like the energy of alder trees!
Talking to you about all that makes me realizes I haven't done much with all that for quite some time whoa
At some point I shifted my focus to crystals, crystal skulls, Ascended Masters and so on, less on what I refer to as shamanism.

This is so interesting! I have not worked with fairies. Nor have I worked much with trees. Did you work outdoors specifically with them or how did you do it?

I love working with crystals! I don't think I could get through my day without them and I rely heavily on my black tourmaline in the office. I also wear bracelets with whatever stones I need for day. Or earrings. Red carnelian is the stone I use when I absolutely have to get work done and I'm not feeling up to it.
