At whatever age we are in life, whatever sex we are, whatever nationality we are, wherever we may live in the world everyone at some point in their lives has profound experiences they encounter? What are yours?

twice, both having to do with our control over personal perception and its ability to shape a moment, or a life

first, as a young girl watching two of my brothers fight, hold grudges for a couple of days ,and then go back to playing together ,,,I remember the distinct thought that they had wasted time and energy in the middle stages being mad,, when they could have been playing all along if that's where they were going to end up anyway,,,,,,,

that experience, I think, shaped my ability to let things go and start each day new,,,,

second, after my first marriage, having a lover who showed me about the body, and satisfaction, and control,,,, I remember thinking just how 'physical and mental' satisfaction was and how controlling either of those elements had a great impact on the end results

that experience, I think, changed my perception of sexual attraction or satisfaction having anything to do with gender other than our 'perception' of it,,,,

Thanks for all your interesting posts guys & gals! I think however, I need to explain more what I meant by profound. What I meant was something that made such an impression or touched you so deeply that it changed your life or your perception of certain attitudes which changed the way you live your life. Maybe that helps define what I am looking for here.

For me it's still the same answer. Spending time with aboriginals changed me as a person. Getting more understanding and insight in those ppl, but also things like discrimination and so on.
I lived their for some 5 months, no telly, no phone, internet wasn't around yet, not even radio as Uluru (Ayers Rock) blocked the signal. So in my time off it was me myself and I.

When I got back to the Netherlands, I couldn't really relate to ppl my age anymore, I had changed too much.

I'm actually writing a book about it, hope to publish it too, probs using online publishing.

During my enlistment in the Army decades ago an exceptional commanding officer recognized that I had more potential than just being a non-conforming troublemaker. He ordered me to work in his office then soon "suggested" that I take the GED test. We were both quite pleased (and somewhat surprised) by the results. After discharge I enrolled in college and eventually became a tenured professor.

I woke up one morning to a different reality/world when I was 37..4 months later I left my husband...seriously!!

The way people looked..dressed..acted changed

My surroundings changed too..just a bit but enough to notice

No I wasn't on drugs lol

I changed after that myself..I stopped dancing with the demons and started playing with the angels

No religion in this world could take me where I needed to go to get well again..I was born again into a new awareness

I died once and went to heaven. Obviously they weren't ready for me yet 'cause here I am still among the living, but that was probably the most profound experience I've ever had. Definitely changed me as a person.

I think mine was after my mom passed away. As we were driving home from my gran's (where they told my sister and I), the radio was playing, my dad was talking casually and normally to my aunt, everything was so NORMAL. I realised then that life goes on, and it doesn't really give you an option, you must too!!
I didn't stop mourning my mom but, life went on and the sun rose the next day, and I still had to get up and write exams, and eat, and talk, and live.

You could say that the blowing up of my home-world Melmac was profound.
Later, I profound myself crash landing onto Earth's St. Andrew's Golf Course.
My cousin Gordon Shumway didn't have such a nice landing. He crashed into the garage of an American house.
