The most realistic first person shooter ever created. Blow Counter-Strike, Splinter Cell, RB6: Las Vegas and all the others out of the water.

Depends on what kind of video game you're designing.

Can you be more specific?

personally i don't care about graphics, as long as you can understand what's going on.

the most important thing in a video game is playability and control. if it's impossible to do what you want to, has clunky controls, is difficult to just pick up and play, or just not fun to play, well, it's not worth playing.

take some notes on blizzard games like warcraft 3 and world of warcraft for something addictive, fun, and easy to control.

from there, do something that's interesting to you, that you know well, and can put a lot of detail into. first person shooters and strategy are great genres to start with.

I've always liked open ended games, where you can run around for hours doing nothing, and not have some bad story nagging at you.

i agree with the cloudy grim reaper, those are my favs! one of my favorite things about world of warcraft is that you don't have to follow the story if you don't want to.

multiplayer games are extremely fun. match your wits against different players every time.

All the things that I want in a game haven't been done yet to their full extent. I would like to see a game that really involves the player to think. Most games I have played there are puzzles and ect, but after you play a few times you can just run through the game without doing some of the needed things.

Also with shooters. They take a little bit of thinking, but the AI is never the greatest. You can always expect where they are going to be coming from. I know that the AI programs are not yet that complex and still run off a "Event Tree".

Give me something that takes more than a few moments of thought. Pattern recognition, cryptology, and team work (For online play)

My favs are rpg's, where you can wander around and explore and then go back to the mission when you want to. I enjoyed star ocean, final fantasy(s), lunar, and older games by 3do, that were the really! More RPG's!!!!!!

Dawn of War

squad system, morale for squad, you get resources by capturing points on a map and not using workers.

brilliant game.

My idea for a game has always been an RPG/fighter. Story elements like an RPG and good plot progression, as well as a leveling, equipment, and stat system, all implemented with random battles in which you move over into a 2-d fighter. New moves learned as you level up, stats affecting your ability to parry and the occasional critical hit. I've put a lot of thought into it. Might end up making a prototype with a few friends.

Its not what you can do for them, but what you want to do. This is actually a hobby of mine and have ben working on a FPS horror game. Your first game will be a failure no matter what. So do what you want on the first one.

character control is important for me. very detailed inventory and equipment options is what i value when looking at rpgs. and also mature plot lines that actually take some intellect to follow.

My and my friends idea was a MMORPG/Fighting game. This is how it would work. You customize your character right? But your skill points for leveling will go into purchasing new skills. Take Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for instance. That was the best fighting ever made. And if you look at abilities, you can use things like that for skill level and then also by leveling up will make them do more damaged. Fightings styles, types, and specials. Then you can add to speed and purchase grab moves and such. Then you walk around, talk to people and such. When it comes time to fight, it will then render into 2D combat. So the whole game is done in a anime style like the newer anime fighting games that have come out. Like Dragon Ball Z and that silly Naruto or whatever it is called. Just to give you an idea of what it would look like when you are walking around. I would imagine 2D combat wouldn't be so hard to do. Although the speed that is required when in 2D combat would be the only problem I can think of.
