@cowboy.. you said a sin is a disobedience of gods word, right? and you have said many times that god just wants our love...

does god have a different definition of love than we do?

it sounds to me that your saying god says love me, do what i say, or spend eternity in hell...

if god is so great and the devil is so bad, then why is it that god is the one making demands, while the devil makes no demands on anyone?

I find it easy to love the sinner and hate the sin. After all no one is guiltless while on earth.

In my opinion it's a sin to love the sinner just only because it's an EASY task for u,because by loving the sinner

1. we set a bad example for the society by loving people after they committed as sin.
2. Indirectly encourage the sinner to do more sin
3. Directly cause injustice to the victims before & AFTER too.

1. Only if you were committing the sin as well.
2. Again, only if you were participating with them in the sin in question.

Did Jesus not love the sinners? Does God not tell us to love everyone?

"god" also says don't judge others, that's the "gods" job, not anyone elses...

Yahshua will Judge. We are to judge also. Our judgements come in many forms. We judge in our courts everyday. We judge in our families parent to child.

The Judgement we have is a wake up call to the one who sins. Judgement is said to start in Israel. The believer who believes in the Scriptures. Mainly your own little group. We judge each other but 1st we tell them and why what they are doing is sinning.

Judgement within any group should always be personal. Then if they do not see thier sinning then take 1 or2 more believers to discuss this with them.

The bible says if after 2 times you take it to the assembly and shun them. Kick them out so they will either really think about thier sins or they will go on thier way and we hope they come back.

Yahweh is the Great Judge we are little ones within our own group who judge each other because it is always better to confess to your friends who love you and will forgive you than to say end up in the court house and have to answer your charges strictly by the law.

Judging each other in love and by the scriptures you need a rule book for every one to abide by.

Judging is required when you see sin and so is forgiveness.I would rather stop what i am doing by a friend judging me than him to not care and i end up in prison.

Love one another not judging a friend or family matter shows no love in the long run. they will just get worse. Notice Yahshua waited untill only him and the adulter were left when he spoken to her. this also goes along with gossip.

If yur friend see you doing something wrong would you prefer them to come to you are gossip about what you did?

what is wrong? just because i think something is wrong doesn't mean my friend does...

religious people make more judgements on what is right or wrong more than anyone, because they are blinded by the bible and a god. just because they think they know what gets people into heaven doesn't mean others have a different idea of what happens to them after death... people should worry about themselves, not others

So you're telling everyone to be selfish and not give a rat's B-hine bout others?

no we should about others but we are told how and when to care about others. If they do not want to believe you. Pray for them but leave them alone.

James 1:22-25

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
NKJV

actions speak louder than words. show love, help when u see help is needed. Be humble and remember who u really r

May I ask you to elaborate on why you specifically used that verse(s)?. Because those verses are not talking about judging. James 1:22-25 is basically saying practice what you preach.

Because it is also telling you to take a look at yourself. that we are human and sin. To Judge don't be a hypocrite any people are. Looking in the mirror and see if you have a right to judge. It speaks of the Perfect law of Liberty and that is judgement, Justise

Please point out the verse that points to "judging". Because to sum up this who verse(s) It's telling us to be doers of the word not just people that talk of the word. Nothing at all bout judging another to be sinful, evil, or otherwise.

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers

The supplied James verses are telling us not to be hypocritical. The verses in themselves do not display anything bout homosexuality.

What do you see when he is talking about looking in the mirror and then when he goes away forgets what kind of man he is. It is a part of where judging comes from. If you see no fault in yourself then you are judging others not to be like you. Your judging yourself to be better than others.

Judging is to be done in a church with church members. It is love to show someone where they are going wrong. James verses refer to everyone. Judge not look at yourself but this is the outside world Yahweh will judge them. homosexuality is just one sin. The sin of not being Hospitabal was a grave sin and still is. Notice what Abraham and Lot treated strangers

Judging is to be done in a church with church members. It is love to show

Please do enlighten us where we are told judging is to be done in the church. Now keep it in context as well, just because the word "judge" is used does not mean it's used in the same context of that which we speak of. In this particular discussion and or how it started anyways is judging others to be sinful or not, or if their sin is deadly, if they'll make it to heaven or not, and so forth.

Because the verses/instructions I provided state "judge not". Doesn't say only judge those in the church, ect.

Scripture on judging yourself -

1Corinthians

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

And where did we get into "judging"? Nobody said a specific person will or won't go to Heaven. No one's made a judgement that I have read in that context.

Judging is for within the church.

1 Peter 4:17-18

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
NKJV

Peter was telling them judgment is on the believer 1st in this day and age and judgment for the unbeliever Yahweh will do the judging by their works as Rev 19 says. They did not all of a sudden stop judging in the assembly when Yahshua died.

These verses Yahshua tells us how to judge within ourselves.

Matt 18:15-20

15 Dealing with a Sinning Brother

"Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that 'by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.' 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

18 "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
NKJV

3 steps of judgment and if u read on it speaks about forgiveness.

1 go to your brother 1 on 1

2. if he will not listen bring 2 or 3 more to speak to him about his sinning.

3 Let the church talk to him ..

4 if he will not listen to what he Promised Yahweh he would do u let him go. says let the devil take ahold of him so he will come to his senses.

apparently it is speaking of a rebellious brother. likes his sinning.

This is judgment between the brother and the assembly as a whole.

people who refuse the scriptures and actually hate them some say they are evil. they will have to answer to Yahweh. we do not judge their heart.. who can know it?

Sin is disobedience to God. Yes which we receive knowledge of God's will/desire through God's word.

No God doesn't have a different definition of love then us. What is more "love"? A parent that lets their child run around in anarchy so to speak or a parent that puts some rules up for that child?

Cause Satan doesn't care, he doesn't expect anything from us. And Satan has no power no ability to place any form of demand on us in the first place. He has no power over us.

it sounds to me that your saying god says love me, do what i say, or spend eternity in hell...

No, he doesn't say that at all. We earn eternal life through Jesus and our faith/obedience, death is an automatic given when we are born.

This is not a "judgement". How was he convicted? What was his punishment of the judgement.

Keeping words in context as well here please. We're talking about a judgement as in being charged for a crime. Not talking about a judgement as in an "opinion" or that you judge something to taste good. Not that form of judgement again a crime form of judgement.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

Judging ourselves. does not say judge yourself.

Since you think within the church we should not judge.

Tell me if your preacher is having sex with his secretary and it is found out to be true. What do you do? Since we do not judge within the church shouldn't we just keep quite and let our ministers sin all they want while they tell you that adultery is a sin?

NKJV

1 Peter 4:17-18

Is not talking about an instruction for us, it is talking chronologically informative for us.

Prophecy of the judgement, notice who gets judged first, the faithful followers of God.

Revelation 20:4-6
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Matt 18:15-20

Is not talking about judging another, is talking about if one sins directly against you. To confront that person and talk about it.

apparently it is speaking of a rebellious brother. likes his sinning.

This is judgment between the brother and the assembly as a whole.

This is not a "judgement". How was he convicted? What was his punishment of the judgement.

Keeping words in context as well here please. We're talking about a judgement as in being charged for a crime. Not talking about a judgement as in an "opinion" or that you judge something to taste good. Not that form of judgement again a crime form of judgement.

this is whats wrong with religion. they just want it easy. no condemnation. Did Yahshua condemn the leaders? Is he not our example. Was Magnus not judged when he wanted the Holy Spirit for power? Math gives us instructions from Yahshua himself about a sinning brother. He is given 3 chances to repent and change before the church lets him go. why do you think it says that?

Matt 18:17
7 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
NKJV

The church the people are to treat him as a Heathen and no one liked the Tax collector then either:smile:

My personal opinion on all of this simple. The vitriol coming from the overly religious ones really does prove that someone who is different scares them very deeply. They feel somehow superior, and the mere hint that those who practice what they see as deviant behaviour should be viewed as equals is terrifying. That is one of the chief reasons members of the gay community are treated as pariahs and ostracized by the fundamentalists. It is to be their way, or it is wrong. Another reason I abandoned organized religion a long time ago.

Another reason why I dismiss proselytizing religious people who condemn homosexuality:

Half a billion dollars is awarded to seven former 'child brides' of pedophile televangelist who sexually abused them when they were girls

Tony Alamo, a televangelist who formed a massive ministry, was convicted of beating sexually abusing several girls while he ran Twenty First Century Holiness Tabernacle Church. One woman testified that he abused her from age 9 until she escaped at age 15. Took several girls and women as his wives. Alamo is currently serving 175 years in federal prison on sex assault charges.

He was against homosexuality, too. Another fine example of the religious right doing God's work...

Is bit Sunday??? When did mass begin?

Thanks to all and the biblical quotes. I have read the bible already. We were born sinners, Jesus died for our sins. The end.

I live in America, my God could be different than yours, or the same. Nobody knows until that last breath. Do they?

I have faith and trust in God! He/she wakes me up each morning and I am grateful.

Is being gay a sin???? Really??? You are joking right????

Oh hell no, God wants us to praise him and give thanks. That's it. He doesn't care if you're a *****, Indian, Barney or Gay!!! That's man's made up homophobia!!!! Why on this earth would anyone care if a man lays next to a man? If its not for u, then don't do it. Don't be all scared and say, God will strike down on you with furious angry.

Hey Gays, have you been struck down yet? Didn't think so. Go be gay. I'm in your corner. Me, I like the the suppleness a lady provides!!!

absolutely. you judge him in his sin by going to him out of love. then forgiveness comes and a change of heart. if you do not go to him then he will be judged for that sin by Yahweh. Judgment within the church is to bring about repentance and Yahweh forgives him then.

Tell me if your preacher is having sex with his secretary and it is found out to be true. What do you do? Since we do not judge within the church shouldn't we just keep quite and let our ministers sin all they want while they tell you that adultery is a sin?

Yes, it is a sin. And I would go to the preacher and discuss it with him in the same manner as this.

Luke 17:3
3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

absolutely. you judge him in his sin by going to him out of love. then forgiveness comes and a change of heart. if you do not go to him then he will be judged for that sin by Yahweh. Judgment within the church is to bring about repentance and Yahweh forgives him then.

Not so much, there would be no "judgement". Again a "judgement" in the context it's used is referring to a JUDGEMENT lol a judgement in the sense of one you would receive from your judge in a court. Reason we are told not to judge eg., judge not less ye be judged ect, because we judged one another in the old testament, the old covenant we were under. And God wanted to make sure it was clear we are no longer to do that eg., judge not less ye be judged.

No where ever will you find God permitting male and male or female and female's to be married or even that they could get married. So therefore every time they have sexual intercourse it would be fornication.

where in the bible will you find God NOT permitting male and male etc.....? Seems like a hateful assumption that because it was not specified, then its a sin...particularly when we are speaking of love and commitment between consenting adults. Ive only heard of 'characters' in the bible hating homosexuality, but never god.

Leviticus 18
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

1. Through this thread many verses specifically saying for a man not to sleep with a man as he would a woman.
2. Love and sex don't have ANYTHING to do with one another. You can love someone but not have sex, you can have sex and not love someone.
3. Sex is for procreation thus,
Genesis 1
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Notice "be fruitful and multiply"
4. Sex is to be done between two married. No where will you find God permitting marriage between a man and a man or woman and woman.

1 Corinthians 6:9
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites,

also, as the first 5 books of the bible are referred to as 'the Law'...

It was Jesus' death on the cross that rescued us from the curse of the Law. If we insist on following the Law and imposing the Law on others, we negate the cross of Christ, and repudiate Christ's death on the cross.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

A mature Christian cannot be led by the Spirit and follow the Law simultaneously. This is an example of 'serving two masters' which Christ said was impossible. In the Greek scriptures Paul urges us to walk in the Spirit, to be filled with the Spirit, to keep in step with the Spirit, and warn us against the bondage to the Law. We can't live life in the Spirit if the Law has us in chains.

also, as the first 5 books of the bible are referred to as 'the Law

The first books are the first "covenant" first "law". Jesus fulfilled that covenant, ending those set of laws. In the process of doing that, he gave us a new covenant, a new set of laws to abide by.

A mature Christian cannot be led by the Spirit and follow the Law simultaneously.

So what exactly was God's purpose for giving us the Law then? If it doesn't matter if we follow that covenant, then why give them to us in the first place?

It was to bring us to the fully accomplished moment of christ dying on the cross for our sins. This is only how I understand it. Paul was clear in Galatians about letting go of that.

We are to live in the spirit, not in the law. That frees us from the burden of judging or telling people they are wrong and their behavior will cause them damnation...because that is not the spirit. How could we practice 'love thy neighbor as thyself' if we are telling people they dont deserve to be married, or that they are abominations?

This is why I believe Christ died for us. Not for us to interpret and examine the writings of unknown origins. Sure thats neat, too. I love history. Not to the extent of being hurtful to another person because they arent like me. They arent me. They are my neighbor.

We have absolutely no place in judging another or even telling them they are wrong, for that is a judgement in itself.

But we're speaking of a specific "subject" in religious beliefs, not talking about a specific person. No one is being judged, only sharing our beliefs on the subject there in.

Just informing people of the train ahead on these sets of tracks. Just as I would hope someone would tell me there was an oncoming train on the track of life I was living.

Is homosexuality a sin in God's eyes

If He is to be in this conversation, then you need to ask Him.
Otherwise, it seems, our opinions matter more.

I do believe, personally, that one day they
will find some kind of chromosome marker or
something that places a person on that pathway.

Actually, they have. The studies done for years point to stress on the pregnant mother causing a misproduction of her hormones. These hormones affect the fetus by causing the fetus' genes to "turn on" and turn off" the production of key proteins and fetus hormones at specific times. This imbalance apparently results in subtle changes to the fetus causing homosexuality.

There were also some prescription drugs that are suspected of causing hormone imbalances but the evidence is not as clear.

If the cause of homosexuality is caused by per-natal stress to the mother, the resulting child can hardly be found at fault for responding to preprogrammed hardwired tendencies unless those tendencies are combined with socially unacceptable behaviors such as child molestation.

There are several studies done over the years. Here is a recent one. The results really aren't "new".

"A new study suggests that homosexuality can be explained by biology, though not by genes specifically. Instead, the researchers propose that there are sex-specific epi-marks on the genes that are triggered during fetal development to maintain a hormone level balance. These switches cause fluctuations in DNA expression that impacts sexual development, including sexual identity and various other gender characteristics. These switches help protect both the fetus and the mother from the natural variation in sex hormone levels present during fetal development, which could help explain why homosexuality has evolved as a common variation of human identity."

We're talking about 'Gods eyes'. Not Christianity. I am sharing my belief, and asking questions.

Im grateful for your informative posts.

Yes and so I shared my beliefs on how we know how God looks at these things, did not say one thing about "Christianity" in specifics to the best of my recollection. I do not remember using the term "Christianity" in my comments.
