only thing wrong with vista is all the old software may work or may not work on it. vista just came out before all the software companies could catch up.

i had no problems with vista other than soft ware that was made up to last year.
other than that it works great.
you could just replace ur mother board. i am sure u can find a cheap on online. any soft ware you have on ur drive should still be there. in fact you take your old hard drive, and have installed when buy the new computer. program to where u have a choice to use vista or xp when its turned on.

Vista has (at one time, maybe not now) resulted in a 40% reduction in framerates for WoW. I have no interest in Vista, maybe in a year or two, but XP SP2 is working fine for me right now.

good news lady so many people are having problems with vista that they are recalling it and letting floks go back to xp ask your tech or whom ever you buy pc from to install windows xp then you,ll buy it if not keep shopping around because vista is not worth the time they spend even putting it on a disc no less in a system i was gonna upgrade to it until i heard all the bad hype about vista and problems people have with it PLEASE RETHINK BEFORE YOU END UP WITH MUCH WORSE

I have been using Vista for about 3 days now and have not had a problem. Everything runs fine and smoothly. Only problem I did have was these security things popping up when I was using Internet explorer. But Once I switched over to Fire Fox I have not had a problem since. Well except for the fact that I can not get my printer to print from this computer, but I am still learning so I am sure that it will come in time. But keep in mind I have only had Vista for a couple of days but so far so good. And I do not predict any real problems in he future.

Vista blows no doubt, Many programs aren't compatible with Vista. Make sure your new PC has at least a gig of memory or it will run like crap.

Okay. I brought my non-working PC home and plan to repair it. I simply don't want to give up my XP and deal with not being able to use some of the software I have on it. I did buy a laptop with Vista, just to check it out and I needed a lap top. Haven't done much with it yet... As for the PC, only the motherboard is damaged. It is a AMD 64 x2 dual core processor, and it has 1 Gb Ram. I do want to add another 1GB Ram and replace the motherboard. I have an acquaintance who knows how to do this,Thank God. And for much less than the cost of a new computer. You guys have been great. I'll let you know how it turns out.....

It has to be said, that as a die-hard pc user for 25 years, I was abhorrently against anything but pcs, however I am exceptionally happy with my macbook.

It "misbehaves" every now and again, but on the whole, when "she" realises who is in charge, I get done what I need to.

Although as most things, I relish a challenge, and this mac certainly gives me that ...

So, I would wholeheartedly agree with a previous poster ... get a mac.

Hello there,

I live in Greenacres Florida. You can do much better than replacing the motherboard and keeping with the old system.

I bought my pc from Palm beach County when they were selling the old stuff off. (happens about 1 time per month.)

Check with your county government. Ask when they sell off the old items.

My pc is a Dell Precision 650. 2 gig ram, 3.06 ghz Xeon Processor.
It was the "Caddy" of computers about 3 years ago. Still keeps up with the big boys. Total cost? 125 for the computer/ 40.00 for my 21 inch monitor (older tube type not flat screen) 60 bucks on sale for the ram.

Called Dell, they sent the restore disk for 20 bucks to install windows XP.

A little bit of hunting can go a long way.
Check ebay, Stealitback.com Overstock.com ect.

Good Luck and if you ever come to Florida, Drop me a line ahead of time, I'll tell you when the sale is :)

If your looking for a great deal on a computer, talk to me I'll build you one at a fraction of the cost it costs to buy one from the store, plus it won't come loaded with all the crap they load on it at the factory.

Just send me a message to my mailbox here, and with your email address and I will contact you via my business email.

Look forward to helping out friends and associates in need.

Sincerely,
Jonathan
