america is not like other western countries in their government or their culture

we have MUCH higher gun ownership and much LESS universal social assistance,,,

its the 'culture' stupid!

emphasized by the fact that much WHITER countries still manage to have a higher homicide rate,,,,,

its not BLACKS that are the problem its american CULTURE that is the problem,,,,one that disproportionately affects blacks when it comes to not only crime, but wealth, employment, finances,, etc,,,

A guy in Florida just shot someone 10 times in the back and fled the scene; no charges against him due to the Stand Your Ground law

can you give us a Link on that, more than just a Hearsay?

I think he was just trying to hijack the thread. spock

No, I just don't know how to post pictures

Simple, as cut and paste. Right click on the image, click on "copy image location", go to where you want to place the image and right click and click on paste. Just like pasting text except use hypertext "img" at front and at the end of the image you want to paste within
the [ ] brackets.

Interesting, im pretty sure shooting someone in the back does not fall under "stand your ground".

Perhaps its not the law, but the lack of prosecution in this case. Would have to know more

Perhaps someone should let the police know this statistic. Or the body guards of our politicians, to include our own president. After all the numbers show they would be safer if they were not around guns.

or perhaps these numbers don't tell the whole story...

whichever term you used

the european countries most refer to, are the ones whose people/government are also more willing to collectively look after each other,,,,

no doubt, I expect people who have the PAID jOB of being trained to protect others,, would have guns for their JOB

I think the quote was more about keeping guns IN THE HOME< than working with guns though,,,

And how do you know those keeping guns in the home aren't properly trained?

Im sure some are, but it doesn't change the probabilities , in fact, it probably means the numbers would be HIGHER, but for those trained

care to elaborate?

when most refer to Europe, they think only of the tourist traps like France, Italy, Sweden,,,,etc,,(most dont think of Russia, or Serbia,, for instance)

places which value their citizens with things like paid maternal leave, family allowances, universal health care,,,etc,,,,

the 'culture' usually correlates its homicide rate with how it values human life in its political policies and social values,,,

No, I don,t think so. If guns weren't around, we would have a lot more intrusions into homes. Probably would have a lot more dead home owners.
But, that's not to say all home owners are responsible people.
I guess that I'm an example of responsibility, I keep a loaded chambered gun right next to my bed. Haven't shot any one yet.bigsmile

well, if you look at AFrica, where there are more than 50 countries,, some of those have less of a crime rate than america and some do not

Russia, for instance, has a higher homicide rate than Latvia

these are two countries, one with much higher percentage of 'blacks' and a much lower homicide rate,,,,

ISIS is not only killing people that don't conform to its harsh version of Islam, it is also trying to erase all traces of their history and culture. It cares not one with how old or unique these buildings and monuments are. For instance, the mosque of Yunus (Jonah) was built on an archeological site the oldest parts of which date back to the 8th century BC. In short, there are buildings in Iraq that have survived 2,800 years of upheaval and strife, but they haven't survived the coming of ISIS. Apparently ISIS considers all the shrines and mosques it destroys "places of apostasy". In the course of its rampage it has also burned the books of the Diyala province's library, so reading is apparently a no-no for ISIS as well.
