I took my black lab from the people who owned him.
He had lumps and bumps all over. We bonded pretty quickly.
He's been like my shadow for the last 10 years.
Now we're both getting oldohwell laugh

I rescued two dogs. One was a schnauzer/poodle mis and one was a pure bred miniature schnauzer. The mixed breed died of a stroke two years ago and I still have my pure bred schnauzer. She's a sweetheart!!

Why the sad face, David! I think Huskies are so so beautiful, but the weather here is too warm for them.

I have 2 dogs....a black local breed which I took in when the council wanted to put it down. He belonged to a neighbor on the same street, but he ran away again and again. He is a very good guard dog and even my friends are afraid to enter the house unless I hold it down.
Another is a very old mixed Shih tzu which rescued himself by parking himself in my porch and refusing to leave laugh laugh laugh

Because I don't have either of them now.

What happened? If you love pets, then, go get another rescue. Do yourself and those dogs in the shelters a favor.

I am currently in a mourning period for another pet. But for my next pet, I'm thinking another rat, or something similarly small and indoors.
I want a ferret, which I'm sure can be found at some shelter or another, but they're still illegal in California.

Every animal I've had has been a rescue. The cat I have now was a rescue. Funny thing is he was feral and even as a kitten he was a fighter, but there was a single moment where I actually saw him turn into a house cat. A few days after I brought him home, he was sleeping on me in my bed and he gave me a look that just said "yeah, I got your number buddy, you're gonna spoil me". I just said uh oh, looks like someone figured out my secret. lol Ever since then he's been a wild house cat. He's friendly, playful, goes outside and does his wild cat thing, comes in and does his house cat thing.

My son and I rescued two cats, brother and sister, from the Humane Society. Had the boy for 14 years and his sister for 16 years. Two years ago I rescued a cat from my neighbors. They abused him so bad. He was skinny and had a leg injury. He is now fat, leg is fine, and healthy. He was diagnosed with feline HIV so he stays in the house. He is some crazy cat. The vets have told me he shouldn't live longer than 5 years, but he is almost 5 now and hasn't been sick a day since I rescued him. When he does leave me he will be buried in Napa, CA at the pet cemetery along with all of my other family pets.

I saw him on Yahoo. I was in Walmart and someone came in with the same bred - half pit bull and half dachshund. Must be becoming a popular bred?????

Rescue is the way to go!

No critters currently, but when I am ready I will go through rescue.

My last beasties were Great Danes, we had two, both rescues. I was also involved in GD rescue. So, in addition to our two boys I had as many as 3 fosters at a time. That's right, I sometimes had 5 Great Danes in our 1100 sq ft home.

*sigh* I miss my boys!

This is my fur baby Sassy. A friend of mine was coming too my house and all of a sudden he said everyone was slamming on their brakes in front of him. Said he saw something roll under one of the cars.. It was sassy he got out and went and picked her up. She was shaking luckily was not hurt. He brought her to my house where he was staying for a while..

When I got up the next morning she was in the back yard and he was going to take her to the pound.. Those big brown eyes just melted my heart.. So I called all the Shelters around my area leaving my number and description of what kind of dog. She had a collar on but it was broke and no name tag on it. And she stunk so bad and had not been groomed in a while and her hair was matted.

I was home due to the flu I let her in the house. As soon as I sat down in the recliner she jumped up in my lap and sleep all day right beside me... Seven years later and she is still right beside me.
