I can read in Hebrew, Russian (Cyrillic alphabet) and Georgian, which is unique in that it is the only country which has its own alphabet that is not shared by any other country.

Sample of the Georgian alphabet

took a semester of Spanish in high school with this sweet old lady teacher who had been teaching it for years. Her head kind of bobbed like a chicken. She gave us all Spanish names..mine was Carlota and all I can remember is that woman listening to my painful little sentence I was trying to spit out in Spanish and then bobbing her head and grinning at me while saying " Si, Si Carlota muy bien " happy

Dothis91, your mind learns to recognize the characters, just like Chinese, which is an art form, Arabic, Hebrew and many other interesting alphabets.

I grew up knowing some Ojibway from my father's side of the family and now that there's no one to keep that practice up and I've missed placed the alphabet sheet that my dad had written out for me as well - DANG IT.

I'd taken Spanish in high school - never thinking that it would be a necessary 2nd language in America but for my years as a Para-Educator I had to have another 16hr crash course in it to help those Autistic little guys & girls.

Have ASL {American Sigh Language} too; but now that arthritis is getting a strong hold on my fingers that's becoming a problem that will continue to fade with age and lack of daily use.

I do envy you all that are able to read/write as well as speak another language...speaking Spanish doesn't mean that I can read or write it well --- nope, not at all. spock
