Im not a white girl, but it could be that some men like women with fairer complexion than themselves, or it be that it's just a TV thing.

Well... American TV is NOT a reflection of real life.
Are these guys you see on TV, childless , mama drama free & wealthy ?

Because for the most part the answer is NO.

No. Women want men that men that live near them that they have things in common with. Culture, religion, money, class, & skin also.. especially to have CHILDREN.

Sexual attraction is different. Men tend to want what they can not have or what they perceive is taboo or exotic. But most women do not.. Not in a serious way.

But women know what they are & are not attracted to, just like men. And here in USA, we have a rainbow variety to choose from.
Easy here, for a woman to get a man... it is just a matter if she wants to keep him or thinks he is good enough. bigsmile

T.V. has a social agenda.

is it a thing or jus like that

It's a thing and jus like that, on t.v.?

is it like opposites attract?

I think it's the opposite of opposites attract.
I think they want to promote the image of heterogeneous social groups being normal.
That skin color wasn't a factor.
It's just normal everyday ho hum that a white woman and darker skinned guy date and it isn't an issue or concern and no one even really thought about it unless it's pointed out to them.

But I don't know what show you are talking about and I haven't watched network or cable t.v., just netflix, for several years.

If it's a drama where she's from the hood and ran away from the aryan nation and he's from sacramento and owns his own legal firm, then maybe it's an opposites attract dharma and greg like thing.

If it's a comedy or family drama it's just supposed to be seen as the norm.

If it's a super chick show (we are women! We rule! We use men! We are CEO's that are tough! Then we cry and have lots of drama and get into fights!) then it might just be a means to show one woman's attitude, purely as a character tool.

Other than that
is it a thing or jus like that

More so now than 60 years ago.

I have absolutely no problem with interracial relationships between african Americans and whites. When black people date one another, there is a daily constant reminder that their physical features such as hair, skin and in some cases body type are not accepted by society. So therefore, the relationship may not work. Some of my best relationships were with non-black men. However, I called it off because Ironically, because interracial relationships or miscegenation is not socially accepted.

Believe it or not miscegenation is not socially accepted. It's hard dating someone when you have to worry what others might think of you

Good point.. I posted on another thread today, (ck it out ) about things I remember. I'm 55. I think my generation fears also for the younger, with interracial dating. So for me & many it is fear, of negative reations, not objection to it.
Ugh.. stupid people may always exist & unfortunately so do the violent ones.

Every person has their preference. You can't generalize.
