Courage can mean a lot of different meaning...
under many circumstances ...

Weigh the situation carefully. Take your time.

Decide pros and cons as best you can. Then decide what is "The right thing to do".

Then do it.

something i found about moral courage...:heart: applies to both men and women, contrary to title flowerforyou

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"

i can face what i fear with more bravery, defiance, and impetuousness than that which i dread might come after...

thoughts?

This reads like you are fearless of fear but not so of great fear.

To me, it sounds as if you're standing at the intersection of an enigma and a paradox.

I find courage in the smallest things daily... when I see a ant... carrying something 3 times its own size..
.... when I see a mother squirrel..
.... gently.. balancing one of her babies... On the power lines..
... saying to it in Squirrel...§₩§₩¢₩§₩.. translation.. come on baby you can make it just one foot in front of the other... trust me you won't fall...§₩§§§₩¢₩¢₩.. and if you do I will catch you.....

.... when I see a loan... eagle flying high in the sky.......
.. I find courage.. in such things..

Leadership grows from courage and integrity, and their seeds lie in everyone. These character traits are primarily learned, not innate.

Courage is the ability to do what needs to be done, regardless of the cost or risk.

Integrity is the ability to do the right thing, no matter what the doubts or temptations.

A leader who can consistently do the right things, when they need to be done, is a leader with courage and integrity.

The process of building courage and integrity starts with very small moments, out of the spotlight, where only you are there to judge.

It begins when you first consciously exercise courage in the face of fear, when you first exercise integrity in the face of doubt.

If you consistently exercise courage and integrity on a small scale and push yourself gradually to higher levels, your stocks will be high when you need them.

:thumbsup: Accept fear and talk your way through it. Fear brings awareness and motivation. You can keep it from blinding you by talking yourself through it.

:thumbsup: Build conviction through dedication to providing a real service and value. My deepest courage has always come from knowing that I'm doing something worthwhile for someone.

:thumbsup: Draw strength from others. We're all human-don't be afraid to lean on others when you need to.

:thumbsup: Sense the right timing. Know the times when courage will have a multiplying effect and inspire bravery in others, as opposed to the times when it will stand alone.

:thumbsup: Know when to confront barriers directly and when to be indirect. In other words, know when discretion is the better part of valor.

:heart: In short, all the courage and integrity you have today is the sum of the small acts you have performed in the past. All your future courage and integrity grow from the small acts you will perform today or tomorrow. Choose your next moment now. Courage and integrity are two things you can never have enough of.winking drinker

Whatever course you decide upon,
there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong.
There are always difficulties arising
which tempt you to believe that your critics are right.
To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

----------------------------------------------

Love is what we were born with.
Fear is what we learned here.
The spiritual journey is the relinquishment - or unlearning - of fear
and the acceptance of love back into our hearts.

~ Marianne Williamson from "A Return to Love ~

----------------------------------------------

The only way past fear
is to go through.

~ Author Unknown ~

----------------------------------------------

I have not ceased being fearful,
but I have ceased to let fear control me.
I have accepted fear as a part of life -
specifically the fear of change, the fear of the unknown;
and I have gone ahead despite the pounding in my heart that says:
turn back, turn back, you'll die if you venture too far.

~ Erica Jong ~

-----------------------------------------------

The courage of life
is often a less dramatic spectacle than the courage of a final moment,
but it is no less than a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy.
People do what they must - in spite of personal consequences,
in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures -
and that is the basis of all human morality.

~ John F. Kennedy ~

The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me:
Serenity - to accept the things I cannot change
Courage - to change the things I can, and
Wisdom - to know the difference.

~ Reinhold Neibuhr, theologian, 1934 ~

PT, I have no thoughts to share at this time, however you've given me LOTS to ponder flowerforyou I wish I'd met you when I was in the dark, dark depths of grieving. These words are so very uplifting to me, Thank Youflowerforyou

..and No1, your post hit very much home with me as well. Those two reasons for getting up everday, aren't those THE BEST REASONS!?
My two reasons ARE the reasons that I DID have the courage to not simply lay down and die right next to Him.

.. now rise up off the edge of this bed..
.... go wake up the other two reasons to.. find courage to make it through the end of the day....

.... dig deep push hard.... because no one is going to do this day for you...

....:angel:
