I'm not sure, as I've never dated anyone from online. What I DO know from experience, is that the more positive YOU are, the more positive people will be, when they next see you.

So far, nearly everyone who writes me doesn't live close by, or they turn out to be a scammer using a stolen picture and looking 20 years younger than the age they posted, hahaha! When I write to men, absolutely none of them have replied, so I'm thinking they are fakes, too. I am approachable and don't think that even 1/4 of those with profiles on here are active. I did a search, saw someone I wanted to get to know and looked at his profile, only to find out it is deactivated. Why in the H*** are pictures still showing on the search feature if they aren't even active??? Most I click on haven't even been on this site in more than a month, which probably means much longer. How frustrating it is to think this is a dating site when it hardly seems like it at all. Is anyone on here even dating, responding to messages or real in my area? I'm beginning to think not!! I wonder just how long I should give it before deactivating my profile, but then I guess I wouldn't really "go away." This site would still have my picture here just to inflate member numbers, is my guess. I guess I shouldn't expect much from a free site.

The site wouldn't still have your picture here if you delete it before you deactivate.

What should I do?

Figure out what realistic options are available to you.
Then pick the best one(s).

I have been on this site about 8 months with no dates. I am on another site and have several dates. I just think the people here are reluctant to take the next step.

I hear you. There is a lot of cons with these type sites and sometimes it doesn't seem that there is anyone out there that is real or close by. But, in my opinion if you get on the forum and interact a bit you will meet some new folks.. some good ones to. And very well may find someone nice in your area.

At the very least you will have some laughs... that is for sure. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you just go on to interact a bit and let the chips fall where they may.

Best of luck

I would just take a break from it. After two months of getting nothing from it you must be pretty fed up with it. It can just become an OCD sort of habit after it stops being fun.

A lot of it is luck or perseverance but if you're not in the right frame of mind for it it just tends to get more and more frustrating. It's difficult. Experience has taught me not to expect much from it. I would also avoid anything long distance. If you go down that road you'll be endlessly searching profiles of people that are hardly likely to be interested in you and at least you're going to have some things in common with people from your part of the world and could realistically date them. That's basically it. It's a matter of finding someone that doesn't live too far away that you have stuff in common with, or can relate to. That can take a long time on a site like this.

I might disagree with your statement ... as others have said someone may be interested but is very far away ... and others could be scammers ...and trolls ... or some may not like his personality ... to many reasons ... just not one ... least what I think ... and he has not given it a lot of time in this site either ... wish him the best of luck and keep trying ... because some are not all here to use this site for dating ... unless u up grade ... and I am not going to do that ... an I to have had dates from other sites ... and none on this one ... some just to far away ...

I know that I am. This site has too many scammer profiles. As long as they are going to allow people to join here and post whatever they want as far as a picture goes, And allow known scammers to stay here, even when it's obvious that the person behind the picture isn't who they say it is, I'm not going to write anyone here. I will hang around these forums, and that's about it. When the occasional "real" person comes along and wants to talk to me, usually they are too far away to even consider it.

First of all, I don't think Mingle is like the largest site out there (when compared to others that advertise). Even so, my success rate (when I look to date) has been pretty good. First thing you gotta do is like....you know....say "Hey yo. What up sugar britches"? The dates will flow your way.

IF you know of someone doing this then you should report it with the proof like a link to whom the pictures belong to...

I've done that. I've reported profiles that I know are fake. They are still up. I reported one using a porn star named Gisele. As far as I know it's still up. Now, another one has popped up using the same person's photo. As far as I know it's still up.

I have absolutely been getting slammed with fake profiles. Scammers, left and right. The past week it has slowed down some. Now I am getting 3 or 4 a day. I might get in trouble for this, but this is one of the profiles I'm talking about

http://mingle2.com/user/view/11321290

This is how crazy theses scammers are. This makes the second time this scammer has come back to my profile. I think the other one finally did get deleted. But, it keeps coming back.

Responses tend to depend on how visible you are, your profile, and what you post.

If you post nothing or negative things it tends to scare women away. If you post frequently in forums that local women would read then your chances go up. Depending on other factors maybe someone would contact you away from your area but I would consider that unlikely in your age group.

Each time you add a new photo or tweak your profile gets you viewed as does being on line. Photos that create a positive impression are important. Sitting up straight, eye contact, smiling, and photos plus engaging text that show you doing positive things tend to create an impression that contacting you or responding to your contact would be well advised.

I don't know how younger women would see your screen name but saying you are looking for "girls" would not endear you to many women. Most of the women who are not scammers or prostitutes tend to look here because at least the forums are monitored and the conversations are less like a hook up site.

I think the best place to find love on this site is on the forum, the fun here makes you even forget you are for a date, and i think the regulars here are real so it feels a bit safe here
