What do u think saying i love u means?

Depends on context.

My mom says "I love you."
A coworker has said "I love you" after I brought them a coffee.
I've said it to a candy bar.
I've had women say it to me in order to fish for what I would say.
I've had women say it in a manner where they weren't sure about it but just discovering it.
I've seen/heard people say it as some kind of defense.

It doesn't really mean anything practical without context of who, what, why, where, and how.

I love you means that I accept you for all you are, the positive and the negatives. It means I will always be truthful with you, but might wait for an appropriate time to share it. It means I will support you in everything you do, even if I am hesitant of it. It means I'll hold your hair when your sick and carry you to bed if need be. If you are bored, I will drag you out of the house. If you are tired I will dim the lights and bring you a blanket. If you cold I will snuggle in close, and maybe just a little closer. Love is many things to me. Most importantly though, you may not be my first or last thought of the day, just the best and most important.

The first time a special someone says i love you, and you say it back with a big smile, and without a thought, you will know what i love you means. At a time like that,it is pure feeling and emotion. But the words do get watered down somewhat after time lol

I usually like to allow a bit of time to go by before I even allow myself to feel that with someone.
If it's said too early, it can be a red flag that someone might be a bit too hasty, and if a long time goes by and they never say it or show it, well, that's just really sad.
Personally, it's been a very long time since I've said those words to anyone.
I just haven't quite found anyone worthy enough to say it to.
But if a few months go by and neither of us have said it to eachother, and we feel good about eachother, and there's a really affectionate individualistic dynamic to our relationship...I won't hesitate to say it to her.
Because I know she'll be the right girl.
But it has to MEAN something when it's said.

And in some cases, a person doesn't even have to say it. They just show it to their paramour every day, without even needing to waste words. But that's only one best-case scenario.

Love on, people!drinker

I've said "I love you" to men online because of the way they made me feel. They dispelled my boredom and made me excited for a while. I knew it was a fantasy but I liked the feeling of being in love. We all have done it. We get caught up in the moment and we want to feel alive. As soon as I met these men from online who distracted me from my mundane existence, it was over. I felt no chemistry. I found them unattractive and never spoke to them again, although they kept hounding me. The love is not real until you have met them in person, although millions of people get caught up in the fantasy of online love affairs and virtual love. Online dating has made everything into a fantasy and this is very dangerous.

I don't say I love you except to my children
or to my husband while married or to my family

to me it is something reserved for the few and finite I allow into my life

it's more than a word, a feeling, an urge to have someone in your life, you need to experience the situation to know it all.

Taking it slow and learning all you can by hanging out with a person is probably best. A lot of times in the past I've said it too early. It's different now, though. I'm a bit older and more seasoned, and know a bit more about what it is I really want and need from someone.
I have to have a lot in common with her, but not necesarrilly everything. I'll be able to make her laugh, maybe forget about herself after a bad day. I'd try to make every day as romantic as possible, and she'd do the same for me if she's able. I'd put handwritten notes on the fridge when she wakes up, little things like that, for example.
Love is more than jsut three words. There have to be actions behind it.
And it takes time.
But if you happen to find someone worthy who treats you with respect and is understanding of your failings and faults, and loves you anyway...it can be the best feeling in the world.

....God damn I really need girlfriend, lol! laugh

whatever it means to people, i do miss saying it and hearing it...not just as an offhanded show of affection, but as a real deeply heartfelt dedicated expression of passion and trust....*sigh*...

I say "I love you" to people I care about all the time because I believe that they should know. Life is too short not to let people you care about know. You don't want to have missed that opportunity.
Saying "I love you" to your significant other is special though and comes with a lot of responsibility because you are kind of making a promise.

I rarely say it myself, because I prefer to show it instead.

When saying i love u to a guy or girl ur dating

Well, it's been my experience that once you say that specific phrase, that is when whoever I'm seeing decides they're done with me.

Of course, that is just a response to a situation that was really out of her control, and it doesn't really change any of the emotional state that resides inside myself. Because all love is personal, you both give and receive it; show it and feel it. Whether your love is returned, is never really in your hands and one can only lay the groundwork to make it easier for another person to want to care about yourself as well.

Me, well, every person that I ever loved, I still do - even ex-girlfriends who dumped me, cheated on me, or came back from Vegas married to a guitar player (yeah, that happened). Though the pain of lost love was there, the fact that I still care shows me that the emotion was real. So I guess what I'm saying is that love is something that you develop when you associate with someone who is significant in life, and something I truly believe you get to keep.

Hope that helps flowerforyou

Well it usually goes like this for me

Woman "I love you"

Me "Really?"

Woman "Yes, I love everybody!!"

Me "Oh, I see."

i think i love you mean acceptance and a little bit of commitment to the person you say it to, so in that context it should not be said to everybody but let everybody around you feel the love you have.
