There will be NO Social Security, cost of living increase in January 2016.

This will effect 65-70 MILLION people (discrepancy in the numbers)

Approximately, 1/4 of the population (retirees, disabled workers, disabled veterans and federal retirees).

This is the THIRD time this happened in the last 10 years.(2010, 2011 & 2016)

Mitt Romney said (years ago & took a lot of heat for), that 44% of Americans are receiving some form of government or state aid.
Then what is that percentage now? ... (I found such a discrepancy in the numbers from 2012-to Sept 2015, that it is ridiculous! )

If there will be no cost of living increase ,that probably is across the board... & will effect virtually everyone.

Fasten your seatbelts, I think we are in for a bumpy ride in 2016.

Vent away....

great aint it
i would love to see them (beep)(beep)(beep)people live off 1,000 $ a month

in my neighborhood in a bad area you can get a one bedroom apartment for 800 $ +
so that gives them 200 $ for food , electric , cable , cell etc etc etc

if you make under 1,200 $ a month they will give you 200 $ for food stamps

<face palm>

the game has been rigged for a long time
and it keeps getting worse

There will be NO Social Security, cost of living increase in January 2016.

This will effect 65-70 MILLION people

I would like to feel bad for these people.
But I don't.
This is no different than food stamps or any welfare.
Social security wasn't meant to be a retirement plan for 20%+ (and growing) of the population.

The more people give up responsibility for their retirement and don't save, or plan their retirement around social security, then this is what they are going to get.
The government telling them what they can or can't have.

Why would people be surprised at being screwed over by centrally planned retirement management that takes in a record amount of taxes while constantly running deficits.

the game has been rigged for a long time

Yet a record number of people have little to no savings for retirement.
It's not solely the fault of the government.
Too bad there isn't a system in place to limit the power of government so it can't do stupid crap like this...oh, wait.

I read that also. But I also read that food prices have been steadily rising for 36-38 months.
And more& more people are working part-time or unemployed.

And the decision to not have a cost of living increase easbased on two scales. One for all Americans & one for over 62 yrs. old. Both scales were 1% or less...below an increase.

well tom, my ex was blind and drawing SSI, and it was mostly her only income... and she couldn't live on what the government was giving her... around 700 dollars a month, and her rent was 640 a month.. so this effects all people that cannot work because of disabilities, and retirees... so the 20-30 dollars a year raise means much more than you seem to care about...

Exactly, when I read this I thought of my mom. She is 76 yrs old. She lives alone, because she can laugh

But I recently found out that the last time she needed an ambulance, she keep calling people asking for a ride... as she was there alone & bleeding with the skin hanging off her arm.

When I asked her why she didn't call an ambulance, she replied " I am still paying for the last two".

This is insanity to me. She has worked since she was 17. She has 4 children & buried 3 husbands. Why can't she go to the hospital for free?
Hell someone should throw her a parade!

amen miss tina,, people seem to overlook the 'breaks' they have in their lives,, such as family, friends, or community members who extend a hand or an opportunity,,,
