New Mexico Man Arrested For Stealing A Pot Of Holiday Stew

New Mexico investigators report that a man was arrested for stealing a pot of his mother's homemade stew. The police claim that he broke into her Albuquerque home, and burglarized the big container of "posole" from the refrigerator. The traditional New Mexican soup is made from dried corn kernels and meat, and seasoned with cabbage, chili peppers, lemons and/or limes, and salsa.     

23-year-old Jonathan Ray was charged with "residential burglary," according to WMUR. Before the theft took place, when he asked if he could have a serving of the holiday soup she had replied "no."

 Ray's mother called the Albuquerque Police Department on November 29. She reported that the alleged burglary had happened one day before.

A document filed in Metropolitan Court explains that Ray had texted his Mom to tell her he wanted to visit her home to eat because he was hungry. She told her son to stay away.

However, as she walked into her house, Ray ran through the building's back door and went to raid the fridge. He then grabbed the pot of delicious holiday stew and ran out the back door.

Ray's mother explained on December 7, Monday that she had made the traditional dish for her children, according to Albuquerque Journal. Ray knew that she had prepared the meat and vegetable stew.   

The New Mexico mother then guessed how her son had broken into the house. He had likely broken the gate lock, and then destroyed the garage door's wheels, or forced open the storage area's entrance.

A police officer reported that Ray's Mom wanted to file a burglary charge. That is because he did not get permission from her to enter her home and take the big pot of homemade posole from the house.

Ray faces a felony burglary charge. His mother has kicked him out of her home before, and she explained that he is unwelcome there. She believes he "needs help."

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Police say an Albuquerque man wanted his mother's traditional New Mexican stew so much he broke into her home and stole it.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that 23-year-old Jonathan Ray was arrested recently after he ignored his mother's orders to stay away from her posole and ran off with the holiday dish.

According to a criminal complaint, Ray sent his mom a text message saying he wanted some of her posole, but she told him no.

The complaint says the mother later found her gate and garage broken and a pot of the posole missing.

Ray was arrested on a residential burglary charge.

Well now...That soup is good I will give you that. I have had this traditional soup before and if done right it is awesome.

Now I am sorry I have had to laugh.. Couldn't he wait like all the rest of the good little boys and girls to get some???

I actually commend her for pressing charges on her son as she says he needs help I just hope she has thought this through with a felony on his record he might need more help in the long run.

Somehow I think there might have been a better way to handle this but as I dont' know either person there seems to be a lot more to this story that what is presented.

I have a low cut for the very merry Christmas today only cost you about one cup of soup........
