Absolutely not. Both young women and men find themselves in terrible situations doing that. The underworld thrives on desperate people who are lonely and do not use good common sense.

I am a retired social worker and I volunteer in programs for the homeless and exploited and I could tell you true stories that would turn your blood to ice.

It does not mean you can not find some one of similar interests, values, and faith in other countries but you should NEVER Marry and unknown person. If they refuse to wait until you can get to know them in person the odds are wildly in favor of them being very bad people. Often criminals but almost always mentally ill.

That puts you under terrible responsibilities and legal scrutiny from people who will be glad to make you responsible for the mess you get yourself into. Or in the case of you helping the "love interest" into. Terrible things like sex trafficking, drugs, terrorism, being held for ransom, being held to be tortured for whatever pleasure or information they can get, or just moving from marginal success in one country to even more acute poverty in another as a hated immigrant competing for very limited resources. Believe me people disappear to fates often worse than what they left.

instead of dating the girl next door?

shall I tell you some of the reasons an American man might do this?
he wants a servant that will do whatever he wants
he has a propensity for violence and wants someone hurt and perhaps film it while he does it
he wants someone he can dominate, control and manipulate and American women are often times more difficult to control
he wants someone who is financially dependent on him, does not know the language, does not have family here, is uneducated and cannot leave
and does not know the divorce laws as they exist in this country
and he can threaten to have her deported whenever she mouths back


now am I saying all people who want a foreign bride are like this?
certainly not..some are nerdy, old, unattractive and cannot get a date here
or have given up even trying and they usually have money so it
is easier for them to just order a bride

It would not be advisable to marry someone you don't know. Every relationship should start from getting to know each other first, except in some cultures where there is an arranged marriage but still it's the parent's choice for you of which they know what's best for you. If you barely know someone and you get married, how would you deal with each other , it would be difficult and what if you don't get along well, you don't like her or his attitude, you will have a lot of differences, surely it will end up to a failed marriage, so what's the point of marrying?

And this AGAIN does not apply just to women. Men get swindled and manipulated and sometimes horribly abused. Men can think they are being in a relationship with a woman and find out she is only a pawn also.

While people in the USA are by in large pretty decent it only takes a small minority of people to do tremendous damage behind the veil of secrecy. And or privacy we afford here.

And it is not always USA citizens that are doing it but people who have slipped in the country years ago and are working in secret to lure decent people out of other countries. This is a vast country and it is not difficult at all for them to afford to appear like some Philanthropy or even legit employer and bring skilled workers over her to do things to advance their causes once the person is here and basically a hostage.

What I tell young people from other countries is your skills, degrees, and licenses are basically WORTHLESS here until you can prove them; Usually with very expensive re-certifications.

I know people with Master's Degrees from other countries driving cabs and getting crowded out of even that by computerized cut rate private drivers with a GPS program and a email site. They risk being shot or bashed by drunken passengers or just stiffed for fares or going to jail for car theft if they inadvertently buy a stolen car.

If they work in fast food they are lucky if they earn more than they would on welfare because it is allowed to pay no benefits and lower wages to part time hourly workers. And they are forced to go hungry while pouring soap on cold food before they put it in the dumpster.

If you are truly destitute you will be forced out of housing by rents that rival mortgages of mansions and forced marched if you are lucky by police until you drop. If not it can and increasingly is self styled police that will use nail guns, tazers, and or gasoline torches to drive you away from their property.

Homeless camps are routinely rousted and set afire.

Even the desperately ill are treated with only short term measures until they are not in jeopardy of imminent death and turfed to the curb of hospitals.

You can not get into shelters with out a birth certificate and in many cases citizenship.

If you think you are going to buy a weapon legally for get it.

Even if you manage to keep body and soul together the colleges and training programs you would wish to get your re certifications in are woefully over populated and can take years to afford the tuition that is skyrocketing.

In my country arranged marriages are very rare. But it does still happen.
