Has something changed recently? Is there a new rule guys are following in regards to texting or messaging? I am clueless as to this. I've meet some guys once. I text the next day then 2 weeks pass before they reply back. Why does e even bother at that point???? I don't have time or patience for games. Either you're interested or not......

Well ... What David Wygant said (Dating guru): If that happens, he's been 'test driving' other 'vehicles' and not found a suitable one... then decide to give you another test drive.

In other words: Dump him.

You hit the nail right on the head CrystalFairy! That game is not only popular in online dating but real life dating as well. One of my guy friends explained Crystal's vehicular testing theory to me, but since I live in the Caribbean ,I'm gonna use a sea analogy instead . Some men attract a bevy of unsuspecting fishes, casting out several baited hooks in one sitting . The women that respond the fastest sexually to these hooks get the stupendous honor of biting the fisherman's "bait". For women like us who squander precious time by examining the hooks to which the bait is attached , we miss out on the bounty..... until two weeks or a month later when the the fish are sparse and the fishermen re-casts his line to try his luck on the previous fishes that didn't bite the line the first time.

Okay now that CrystalFairy and I have exposed the diabolical plan on an international scale, the fisherman mob is sure to be after us . I hope you have your disguise in your backpack Crystal. We may have to go incognito for a bit.

C'mom give us poor guys a break...yup, we need all the breaks we can get. Sometimes we are way to busy to check our msg. Be it work, over time, kids, sports or just hanging and staying loose. Or it could be, we are not into the texting thingy...we rather hear that husky or sweet voice....Also it depends on time of day....if its a working day, well any time after 5 is good.... Ah! I cannot fool you ladies on M2...if the guy responds after two weeks or so....yup, he was fishing in some other pond...dump him I say...I do the same to some women like that too....

So ... I am trying to look at this objectively. Although men may be criticised for the fishing technique , I am wondering if there is some wisdom to it and maybe even something that females can employ? I dont mean fishing for sex but fishing for a number of prospective romantic partnersand see who perseveres to the end? or is it too taboo for a female to do it?

I'm not on board with all the texting. Why can't a person call on the phone?

Is there a new rule guys are following in regards to texting or messaging?

I wasn't aware of any old rules to texting or messaging that anyone was following.

Except maybe that people keep complaining about texting and messaging while still doing it.

Except for complaining about texting and messaging and all the things they complain could have been avoided or solved with 10 seconds of face to face in person communication.

I've meet some guys once. I text the next day then 2 weeks pass before they reply back. Why does e even bother at that point?

Why not.
What's the worst that can happen. An angry text? Being ignored and running off to a dating site?
Most people would just ignore it, and move on with their lives.

Many people would text back "why are you even bothering? I texted you 2 weeks ago. Not interested." and then move on with their lives and not go onto a dating website forum.

Not to mention, this is the tail end of holiday season.
Lots of new people get put on a shelf, for a couple weeks, to spend quality time with old acquaintances, like family.

I don't have time or patience for games.

Sure you do, what do you think this is?
You are frustrated with him, but you're coming here to deal with it rather than dealing with it with him or just letting it go because it really doesn't matter.
Using people to vent your emotions while pretending you aren't is a game.

Either you're interested or not

If that were in any way true then marketing would be a completely pointless enterprise.
Also, if "interested or not" were in any way true there would be no point to dating.

Not taboo. Women have been doing it for decades, at least.
It's called "just friends" and the whole "most/all my friends are guys, I just get along better with them!" rationalizing.

Do not kid yourself, women to , employ this tactic. They fish different ponds, use different lures and bait, and as always when they get the fish , they then decide whether its going to be a keeper or one to put back into the pond....catch and release policy.
True story. I dated a woman from this site....turned out she was a serial dater. In my humble opinion, she gave regular women a bad name...all I am saying...

To be honest catinidaho , with the nervousness we feel sometimes with the person we have a crush on, texts give us more time to get our thoughts together before we express them so we have a shot of sounding cool and eloquent ,as opposed to nervous nincompoops. How many of us are trying to erase the memory of the streams of crap that rolled off our tongues in a moment nervousness with people we liked?

Just clarifying ... Are you implying that when a woman has mostly male friends that it is usually with the intent of pursuing them romantically?
