I get a fair number of message with very little or no punctuation. Should I expect these to be scammers?

I think some people message from their phones and do not tend to take the time to punctuate.

Scammers tend to give themselves away though other actions.

Yeah, I get a lot from people who Have no punctuation, no breaks in between words. It kind of runs on. I don't know what to think.

Makes sense to me.

Anyway, all any of us can do with missives from strangers, is guess.

I'd guess that someone who doesn't punctuate, either doesn't want to, doesn't care what you think of what they may or may not be saying.

While I do not expect perfect spelling, grammar and so forth I do tend to think absence of punctuation is someone goofing around on a phone and probably a scammer or a cheater.

Or someone who is goofing off at work which I think says something about character if you are someone's employee.

Generally I want to feel like the mail I get is written for me and not mass mailed or cut and paste.

If someone just pops off a text I don't consider that great communication; more like they are talking at you not to you. Or electronically monitor you or just being attention seeking.

Punctuation,to me, is important
Here is an example
Let's eat Grandma
Let's eat, Grandma
Hopefully you can ascertain the difference

A professor wrote on the board
A woman without her man is nothing
The men wrote
"A woman, without her man, is nothing."
The women wrote
"A woman: without her, man is nothing."

So yea, it's important...

Some folks don't know the difference between there and their, or than and then, or a million other things about the English language. So somebody who misses a few commas here and there doesn't bother me that much.

Even some of the messages I receive.... Ugh, the run-on sentences..hard to distinguish where one thought ends and another begins..

Expect everyone to be scammers, not only those who don't use punctuation. Usually though, scammers would give their phone number or email addy on first message.. this way they get you out of the site right away.

Hi Frank, how did you know the OP has been a member for over four years. I looked at her profile but I didn't find it.

Back in the day I would ramble on with no breaks or punctuation with no beginning or end to my sentences and little or no sentence structure or sense to my rambling then I stopped dropping acid and that seemed to help a lot.

It depends where they are from for me, if English or any other Country where English is the first language then I find it gets to me after a while.

Anywhere else then I can understand it

In fact I think its admirable when someone writes in English even if it's not correct.
