I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I have tried a few other chat sites and I usually get rejected by women once they find this out. I am sure there are women out there that have similar issues. Any out there that won't reject me because of it?

I will be honest with you Jim I lived with a man that had that and when he wanted me dead. I got out.

I don't judge because I don't have that right but I am very cautious with anyone who has mental health.

I accept them for you they are but I will not date anyone with it

This is being totally honest with you

Use discernment concerning all things... Nobody's business until you begin dating on a regular basis...

Im sure there is someone for you... Take your time and take care of yourself first... The rest will follow...

You can blame defense lawyers for your predicament.
All too often they cite bipolar disorder for the reason that their clients committed illegal acts.
Bipolar disorder doesn't make anyone commit a crime, but too few jury members know that.

Bi polar comes in a couple different varieties
but usually involves a manic state and a depressive state

during the manic or elevated mood state the client may be elevated and happy such as someone who is a shopoholic or runs out and gambles for three days straight or it may be elevated and irritated or angry

during these times the client may be excessively exuberant, flamboyant, dramatic, high energy and enthusiasm
with rapid speech and an inflated sense of self importance

if mood is irritable and manic the client may complain, insult, make hostile comments, in a loud and angry voice or go into a temperamental tirade

depressed state may last days and client may show such emotions as sadness, emptiness, hopeless.
shows diminished interest in activities, fatigue, and may have reoccurant thoughts of self harm

comorbidity: two most common disorders that may also occur with this would be anxiety and substance abuse

so sayeth the DSM 5

I dated a bi-polar for many years. It is tough and it gets tougher with time.

Accurate ! Thanks for sharing this. I have bipolar disorder and I am very open about it. It is treatable, it is also usually lifelong. It is difficult to be with someone if they have this disorder and do not recognize it and are not being treated (successfully).

I dated a bi-polar for many years. It is tough and it gets tougher with time.

So this is offensive "I dated a bipolar". I am not a bipolar, that is like saying I dated a diabetic or I dated a cancer. More appropriate is I dated someone who has bipolar disorder. I am not my disease.

Many in the Mingle forums are aware I'm bipolar. It does put a damper on trying to meet potential dates. Especially when my manic side comes out. I tend to have a very surly demeanor.

If people can't get over the fact that you have a Mental Illness...oh well, didn't need them in your life...least I don't.

Hugs Scoobflowerforyou

As TMom has stated there are many degrees and variables with this illness

The one thing I have stated for years is that it is the person afflicted to take responsibility to seek out help and medication. I personally don't allow people to use any afflictions as an excuse there are ways around each, does some take more patience than others yeppers.

And I don't see why the world has to know if you don't want it to.It is totally up to the said person to what is comfortable for themselves.

Dating anyone with any type of illness with the person taking care of it is irresponsible and foolish IMHO because that is a huge red flag telling me they don't care about themselves enough to want to be the best they can be in this relationship.

I think he didn't meant to offend you coz he even dated someone who has such disorder and he keeps up with it and struggles as well. Though treatment with people who have disease or disorders should be like normal persons too and shouldn't be focused on their disabilities or dysfunctions whatsoever. But we all know that Life Isn't Fair so we just have to be flexible and modest and be thankful still coz we've seen the beauty and ugliness of the world we live in.

Maybe that is the issue. Should someone with bi-polar issue, expect a normal dating experience? Or should they realize that dating with this condition, the other person will face major hurdels? I welcome you to Mingle. The forums are a great place to educate us more on these issues.

I know I don't expect a normal dating experience. "Normal" is boring anyways. But, I'm a Gemini also...so boring doesn't usually happen.
