* City of 80,000, Fort McMurray AB. Canada
* The damage costs from the fire ripping through could reach $9 billion.

* Supercharged by winds of up to 70 km/h, the wildfire ballooned to 85,000 hectares overnight and is now raging on several fronts near the oilsands city.

* More than 100 firefighters, and 10 helicopters and 16 air tankers are fighting the wildfire, with more resources on the way.

* In addition to the firefighters battling the blaze in the boreal forest, more than 200 firefighters and 25 fire trucks are in the city itself, protecting homes and buildings.

* But in tinder-dry conditions and with winds constantly shifting, all of that manpower alone cannot stop the inferno, said senior wildfire manager Chad Morrison.

This is horrible I know that Alaska has sent firefighters to Canada exactly where I am not sure..

We also have a fire about 10 miles from where I live right now.

Looks like a long dry hot summer and well lots and lots of fires this year last year was bad..

Praying for all those families.

Isn't that city that evacuated 80K people...

so sad I saw on F.B. where they were talking they didn't even have time to take anything.
I just googled where it is exactly..
I know you have some other fires that they aren't sure of

I know in SK it was in the high 80's this week yeah that F. not C.

* The city was well organized and everyone was evacuated.
* Everyone is 100% fine but cautious as the fire burns.
* Government has reassured to pay. That "All" property is covered.

** Alaska is facing the same weather and problems flowerforyou

From that news report: "The Edmonton Humane Society is present at the site to help evacuees deal with their pets."

I am so glad to know that someone there thought of the pets.

just below you... and if you remember correctly, y'all probably got to New Orleans before the US did... we have always been slow on everything, just depends how much media is involved to make the states look good on camera...

does anyone know how this started anyway? just curious, wondering if a meteorite might have....
