I think it's fine, as long as they aren't looking for lifetime....Because lets face it age gets in the way eventually....even Demi/Ashton couldn't make it.

I believe that the love between Celine Dion and her late husband Renee was real and strong, despite their 26 year age difference .

The thing is that Renee could trust in the integrity of Celine's love because she stayed with him even when she amassed her own wealth, and even when his body became frail with age and disease.

In many of these older man/younger woman type relationships,however, where the man is often assuming full financial responsibility for the woman, it is hard to prove that she is with him for his heart rather than his money.

I also think that too often the younger person embarks upon such a relationship, assuming that their older mate is going to age at the same rate in appearance and physical capacities as they, the younger party is aging, 20 years down the road.


With these sobering realities in mind, the onus is on the older person in the courtship period to observe the younger person carefully eg their willingness to continue earning their own money, their level of focus on material things etc, to better assess the purity of the younger person's motive.

The onus is also on the older person to assess if both parties have compatible values, goals, and lifestyles because the younger person often doesn't think that far down the line.

If the older person remains practical about the built in realities and potential pitfalls of their situation , I think that there is nothing wrong with taking that calculated risk on a person, who has inspired them to love with such fervor

My advice, date someone close to your age. Or else you have to add the above paragraph as an adendum to your vows.

As with anything in life, there are choices and consequences Rob , and the older person at least has to go in with their eyes wide open.

It worked out really well for Celine Dion and Renee. And it will continue to work out for a few other lucky exceptions, but I agree with you fully that it won't work for everyone.
