Topic: 5 WORST TV Characters

OK, folks, this is just like my 5 best thread, just list who you think are the 5 WORST characters in TV history.

Here's mine:

1. FRED FLINTSTONE: The Flintstones were meant to be a "stone-age cartoon version" of the Honeymooners. You really felt sorry for Ralph Kramden, because, underneath it all, you knew everything he did was for the betterment of his family. Fred had NO tragedy in his life, he was just a loudmouth who got angry a lot. You always got the feeling that if he ever did strike it rich, he's dump his family and friends in an instant.

2. ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER: As in, it's a wonder Batman didn't off this whiner himself, before one of those "arch-villians" did him in. Unlike the comic-book version, the TV Robin was nothing more than a damsel in distress who said a lot of stupid things.

3. RICKY RICARDO: I know I'm gonna catch a ton of flack for this one. But, I've gotta say it--Ricky neglected Lucy. He seemed to care FAR more about his career than he did his wife. He never passed on an opportunity to belittle her.

4. HOMER SIMPSON: I know, two cartoon characters. But they're both from Prime-Time cartoons, so it's OK. The first couple of seasons, Homer was fine. A not-too-bright dad who tried his best to raise his kids and provide for his family. Then Homer was made into the star of the show, and the problems began. Homer was no bordering on mental retardation, and seemed to get more and more ignorant as the show went on. Since he was once a good character, he's the one on this list I didn't want to include, but felt I must.

5. BUD BUNDY: A one-joke character. He can't get a date. OK, that's funny--in one episode. NOT EVERY FREAKING ONE OF THEM!!

OK, there's my list. As with the best list, I could go on and on. But I'll shut up and let the rest of you take over--for now.

1. Cousin Owliver on the Brady Bunch. His mom is Carol's sister, his father is Woodsy Owl. Give a hoot, and don't pollute a perfectly good show with this sniveling little dweeblet.

2. Rebecca Donaldson on Full House. I don't know what the Beach Boys were smoking with Uncle Jesse, but he was much better off as a swinging bachelor (as far as the censors would allow him to swing on that show) than as a watered-down house-hubby with obnoxious baby twin mannequins, whose entire schtick became whining about how his music career wasn't going anywhere. Becky was the ultimate "fly in the ointment" -- the Sea World episode would have made more sense had she literally jumped the shark. Better yet, the shark could eat her.

3. The entire cast of The Facts of Life. I only watched it in the hopes that Fred Johnson, the one-armed man from The Fugitive, would show up and murder them all.

4. Warren on the Andy Griffith Show. Barney's leaving? Hey, let's replace him with a guy who is totally annoying and not funny at all! Great plan!

5. Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years. I still have no idea what Kevin saw in her. She actually would have fit in better on the Facts of Life, waiting for Fred (Johnson, not Savage) to show up....

Ok, think about this one, would any of these shows been half as great without a bad character?
Would Barny be that nice by comparason if he didn't have fred to be the jackass?
you need the horrorble people in the show to show how wonderful the rest of the characters really are, don't you??
Just asking:smile:

I agree that Warren from Andy Griffith wasn't a good character. But he's not one of the worst, IMO. Jack burns had an impossible task, following one of the greatest characters(and actors) of all time. They should never have had the Warren character on the show. They should have known the comparisons to Barney would start immediately. They DID do an episode where Barney came back, and Warren idolized Barney. I think this was the show's effort to get the audience to accept Warren.

I don't know if he's a bad character, but if you want a totally useless character from Andy, how about Emmitt, the fix-it man?
His only character trait was that he was a cheapskate--and THAT wasn't even played up much. Just a character who had nothing going for him. One of the most forgettable characters ever.

Five, eh? How about ANY character from Barney? Or Sponge Bob? Or the five Teletubbies? Pick any from there for my five worst.
That Zoogily Zoo show was pretty bad, too.

I don't consider Soap Opera people actors, because to me, they're at the very bottom of the acting food chain.....even below those weird people you see on McDonalds ads.
