Why hide real age when at the end you'll gonna spill it out anyway...

I do not see a reason why anybody would. Lol but it seems to be very common in the online community.

Well yes very common but I thought only women have the problem revealing real age... Most men does... I'm kinda surprised;)

Anyway. ... No real harm in meeting someone in a public place. If real names are given at the start ...(they won't be hard to find. ) If not...(should you choose to accept) their home address will.

Why? Because they're human beings. What motivates lies? Fear, desire, vanity, a moment of laziness, a desire to manipulate for emotional gratification (be good, kids, or santa won't bring you something this year), express imagination. Pretty much anything that motivates people, or causes them fear, gives reason to lie.



Other than that, "when at the end...," some people spend more time focusing on creating a beginning than an ending, or "at the end."

Because most people, in relationships and emotions, realize stupid lies and lies of vanity lose their importance.


Kinda depends on the size of the lie, though.

"I'm not really 20, I'm 44!" has different motive and intent than "I'm not really 38, I've turned 40!"

Some people are mostly trying to lie to themselves, and other people get caught up in it.
Some people are mostly trying to lie to others, to manipulate their perceptions, and get caught up in it themselves.

The point is..ONLINE you can be whatever age you
say you are.

But I have to agree..what is the point if ever
you plan to meet someone?

I would much rather have understated everything
about me than to have them be disappointed when

It's really a great compliment when they look at you and think you're way younger than your real age rather than look way older than your age

lying about your age is only lying to yourself...not a good thing...

I have no idea why people hide age. You right its going to come out eventually.

my x sister in law is 53, her boyfriend was 34. She told him she was 42.
He believed her
She got a DWI.. Her name AND correct age were listed in the local newspaper.

He broke up with her.. because of the age ;)

Moral of the story:

Don't lie.. or go out with someone who doesn't know how to read.

I've seen a number of posts over the years, where people caught lying about age, or who were advocating lying about age, explained that the reason they did it, was because they wanted to try to land a date with people of an age they were prohibited from contacting.

Thus, on a site where no one is allowed to contact anyone more than twenty years younger, the old person would lie in order to by pass the rule.

The explanations they gave, varied from what I thought of as a rather childish demand that they had a Right as an American, to try to hit on anyone they were attracted to, and as technical grownups, the site shouldn't tell them what to do...

...to their claim that they were absolutely sure, that after the person they lied to found out how wonderful they were, that they wouldn't MIND the lie, or the age difference, and everything would turn out hunky dory.

None of the explanations work for me. Lying is lying, and only works when the person you are lying to, ALSO doesn't give a crap whether the relationship works out or not.

True, my concern would be where does the lying stop.

Me I will stand right up and admit I am 56 years almost 5 months old.. We aren't going to hours, minutes or seconds.. That is more math than I want to..

I tell all the women on Mingle that I am 60. Then, when they meet me, I get the "Oh my Goofball! You are so damn sexy for a 60 year old".

All lies are ridiculous really. Even if it is a good reason (to the liar) they have to always remember what thet said to whom. The lies just keep building. I, personally, don't have that kind of memory.

I'm not in denial of my age. I'm 49. What's the big deal? I've never lied about my age.
