I have been browsing profiles and this is something I have noticed. About 4 out of 5 girls (that actually have listed their interests and not just 'I will tell you later') have 'travel' or something along the lines of travel listed as an interest. Has it always been this way, or is this 'travel' the new hip thing to do?

Just kidding. Travel is a very common interest. I believe most people would like to get out and experience other wonderful places in the world smile2

Travel has always been a favourite of most people as we want to see other countries, see the wonderful sights and experience different cultures. It was mine too when I was younger.. I wanted to see the world and I did. I became a travel agent and travelled for a fraction of the price, sometimes even free.

Been there, done that. Now I just want to go to the mall biggrin

A lot of people enjoy "traveling". That's what keeps airlines, travel agents, and hotels in business. Unfortunately a lot of people who list "traveling" as one of their favorite past times are looking to do it on someone elses dime.

I hate to be such a cynic but I have tp agree with this post.

Or if they are hot to get away from where they are they are going to bring their same miseries with them. One of those definite buyer beware
Deals.

And just because they have been to a lot of places doesn't mean they learned anything about the "culture' pt that they ate any fin to travel with.

I think travel is an easy interest to list. I enjoy traveling and I do quite a bit of it and it usually is on my dime.
This interests could lead to opening email of where have you traveled or where is your dream travel destination.
The new hip thing I have no clue.

Welcome to Mingle

It is a very old profile standard. It shows up among the top twenty most common things people say, which are therefore recommended against.

I myself do NOT like traveling. Don't get me wrong, I love BEING in new places, getting to know different kinds of people, seeing historic sites and wonderful nature settings.

I just hate TRAVELING TO THEM. Travel usually means "climb into an uncomfortable box, wait a loooooong time, then get out and look around for a while."

You nailed itlaugh

I have traveled this country for years. Traveling around the pasture
good enough for me. With the exception of occasional road trip to
a good museum or Route 66 Pops to get my NY SELTZER LOL

Maybe they're hoping you own a yacht? bigsmile

I enjoy travelling but haven't listed it as one of my interests. Sometimes moving from the frozen foods to the fresh produce sections of my supermarket can be the highlight of my week!

it also suggests affluence as one has funds to go as one wishes and that is desirable to many just as having sufficient time to do so matters to those with the means...

What is wrong with wanting to travel? When I say I want to travel, it Is going on road trips where I live, the United States. I have no interest going out of the country or over seas. It is one of my favorite things to do. If a guy doesn't like road trips, I have no interest in him.

Nothing wrong with travel if you enjoy it but I have done enough of it it is kind of "been there".

Sad to say that many of the hotels, tourist centers, and festivals are pretty similar. Often worn,:even dirty, lacking bathrooms and accessibility features that are remotely to code, and enough security.

And airlines even airports have somewhat the same grind. Maybe that is because. Many travelers are doing it ill prepared, over stressed, and dragging out of control and frightened children, the ill, the the medically fragile, and unwashed, Most lack even minimal ability to be considerate or use. culturally appropriate manners.

Gone are the local crafts replaced with imitation imported trash and stale prepackaged food and knowledge able hosts.

If you want to go to the great outdoors you better be able to negotiate not just the animals but the two legged criminal variety or heart breakingly the homeless.
