So my 39 year-old nephew is having his first child
and if it is a girl he wants to follow the family
tradition and begin her name with a 'J'.

He has selected 'Josie' the dead Grandmother's name.

This rather puts out the other live Grandmother, Joye.

So, I suggested 'Joysie'.
It would sound like Jersey, with an accent.
Guaranteed not to be duplicated elsewhere in the land of 'J's.
A sure conversation starter, don't you think?

One of the Grandmothers is not talking to me now.
(I also named the last one..'Jazz'.)

What do you think?

I think that your nephew should do as he wants.

Josie is a good name could do the middle name Joy so they have both of their names ....bigsmile

But then Joysie (Jersey) would for sure be different and most likely the only one spelled that way....

No matter what someone will get hurt over it...neither of my kids was named after anyone in the family I did give my son his dad's middle name... But that was it.. Hahaha got my kids names off the Soap Operas don't ya know they love that laugh laugh laugh

Ya, have used it myself many times as a shortcut,
but we have one in the family already, albeit
deceased at the age of 6.

I think its very creative and a great compromise and play of their names .. (sounds like) 'Joicee/Joycee, (spelt) Joysie . very smart.

Soufie, I hope that the deceased one isn't talking to you, because if she is, then you need an exorcist. shocked

Sounds like his name is going to have to be "Gram" if the Ole Bitties have that much control?

Well of course the dead one speaks no ill, silly :-)
Hella woman..one time when my bro-in-law was about 7 he
picked up the cat one day by a leg, began spinning, and
flung that cat across the garden.

Unbeknownst to him, his Mother (Josie, said Grandmother)
had been watching.

Fast as he moved she caught him up, grabbed his leg, started
swinging him around, let loose with him and he travelled 3 times
farther than the cat had.

Well, only the live one is complaining :-)

I think it's horrible if you can't even choose the name for your child that you like because of family getting upset and jealous. Would P me O, hihi.

Joysie... That's cute when its still a child, not so much for an adult woman.
