I would love to work on whatever it is that keeps me perpetually single but I think it's just my personality slaphead

I'm sure there's someone out there that understands your personality, whatever it may be, but its who you are and no reason to change that.. Good luck in the new year!

Perhaps I rehash a thread that has already been done?

Maybe my tone at times seems arrogant...a "Why don't you see the obvious?" disposition?

I want to hash things out to a fault, when it's probably better to let it go for a time...for perspective.

I am working on my empathetic nature. It is a curse to give a toss about ******** all the time.
This year is about meeting other empaths so I receive as well as give.

In other words: you're still going to rely on other to get your needs met...
Find it in yourself, Ladywind. You've got to learn to balance give & take within. Start with embracing your gift and learn how to set boundaries and learn to stick to those.
That's the hardest thing to do but I believe that is the only way.

I understand what you are saying. I was meaning I attract narcissistic men. No more. Yes, it does begin within. Going on a date tomorrow with a lovely man....

That does absolutely require work on your part! Narcissists attract vulnerable women.
I've also noticed they tend to come into your life to help you learn a lesson. Which has to do with this vulnerability in you. Usually concerning a theme in your life, so something you could've learnt much earlier on but didn't for whatever reason. Stuff that makes you easily to manipulate and abuse. Low self-esteem, being a pleaser, overgiving, low sense of self-worth etc. That sort of thing.

In any case, enjoy your date!

I am working on trying to stop smoking.

Grrr, this is not going very well.
Can't seem to cold turkey.
On a positive note, I have smoked less than a pack and its going on 7 days. Two weeks ago I would have smoked 7 or 8 packs in that time frame.

The first 3 days were not difficult.
As time passes it gets harder and harder.
The nicoderm patches work but not as much as I anticipated.
Thinking about trying two patches at once.
I am certainly having withdrawal symptoms.

The physical symptoms trigger justification reasoning.
It is a concentrated effort not to light up.
So far, I am winning 80% of the time.

I'm 56 and I have been smoking 48 years. (yes, I started inhaling when I was 8)
I have noticed my dreams are different now (I smoke in them).
They have turned non-nonsensical with no structure. Strange dreams is a side-effect of the nicoderm, I read the disclaimer for side effects.

My appetite has improved slightly. While I'm still not hungry, the act of eating is no longer repulsive.
