Can I cheer this topic up a bit. I relocated from Australia to U.K.after meeting my partner. We had wonderful times together and a happy life. He died 2 1/2 years ago and I now wish to return to Australia. If the person is right for you, it is worth taking the risk. It worked for me and I do not regret it. I just want to go back to the warm weather.

if u find tht special someone would u relocate or take pains to visit?

Yes, I would visit him first before deciding to relocate though.

I'm fortunate, or maybe not, to be in the position to do so. Even before Hurricane Irma, other than my job there really wasn't anything keeping me from being able to leave.

@PaulaRuth, thank you for the encouraging words.

while i might be willing it would make more sense for her to come to me. relocating my business and all it's equipment would be problematic at best

Here on M2, I met a figure 8 Russian woman,so we got talking. She wrote me everyday and would describe her day. Her English wasn't perfect, but her letters were well structured showing that she had had a university education. I looked forward to her letters everyday. She works.
She wanted to visit me and asked for the nearest airport. I agreed.
She asked me to send her about $1560 for ticket. But I wanted her meet her in person first and I told her that I would reimburse her whatever she spent coming down to my city and fro. She insisted I sent the money first. She stopped talking to me when I didn't.
Later, I would see here with different alias' but with same pics she sends to me everyday while we were in touch. She was a scammer.
If the intent is right one should not be afraid to cross oceans for love. I would any day.

The man visits me! Then he lets me know if he wants to move here!

So far I've had two takers but I declined them! Personal reasons.

I go for men who like to , Travel. 1200 miles + does not matter to them! bigsmile

I met them on paid relationship sites.

Non meets from mingle2!

Well being American, I would bring them here....I would not go to their land...

and why is that? if im allowed to ask

I'm American....
Other countries are locked up in their religions (muslim) or in their political ideologies (North Korea).

So how 'bout first world countries? You do know they exist? Like Germany, UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands, NZ, Australia, Scandinavia...

No way,

I would but not totally... meaning I would want to be with him but I would always want to visit my own country and hopefully with him too.

We're not talking about just visiting. It's relocating to a place you maybe have never been to before. It doesn't have to mean another country, and I would never move to another country because I like it here. A year ago, I was really open to relocate to a different state, but things change.

I probably would not. I like where i live.

lol oryt dear
point taken....so u wont even take pains to vist?

Why would i make the plans? Why cant the other person come my way?

Maybe for the same reason, you don't want to go there way?

But as for me, No, I wouldn't. I've done the long distance thing twice. I learned the hard way. It's not worth it. Now, it's all I can do to talk myself into going 50 miles away from home. Either way, you cut it, you are going to meet a stranger. You can talk to someone over the net for weeks. Or even months and they are still a stranger until you meet them.

They say that "A picture is worth a thousand words". It's not true on the internet. For the most part, a picture is an image of what that person wants other's to see. It doesn't show what you really look like day to day. So, on the internet pictures can lie. And many in person don't look like their pictures.

A profile is how you see yourself. Or what your friends or family tell you. Not how others outside that circle will see you. So, you can write out a profile that makes you sound great. When in reality, you may be a total azz. But, that isn't how you see yourself. So, pictures can lie and profiles don't always tell the truth. That's why I choose to keep my online dating close to home. That way I'm not wasting a lot of gas, time or money on someone that isn't what they seem to be. Which is the way it is on the internet about 95% of the time.

uv had a bad experience hey

im sorry, bt we learn from our own mistakes ryt?

It's a mixture. Of experience and common sense. Experience taught me something that at the time I didn't have the common sense to see. But since have grown. As you've seen, the great majority on this thread so far said they wouldn't do it. For various reasons. For me, it's not just my experience I'm going on.

But also the experience of other people I know. Who have had close to the same experiences that I've had. Out of the 20 or so that I know, only one had a successful relationship that led to marriage with a woman that he met on Yahoo personals that were from another state. I feel he got lucky. She was willing to move to be with him. Most are not. I would say that at least 85 to 90% of those that say they will are scammers that really just want your money.

So the other 10 to 15 percent must be those of us on this thread that said we would.... Right? spock

I too have relocated and was in a long distant relationship, neither worked out, and neither of those experiences would keep me from considering it again. Because those two men don't define all men.

And who knows, maybe one of us will be that 1 in 20 that just happens to work out?

I knew someone on line for over three years I was in love with her , but I never knew if I went to see her if she would open the door , She had secrets and she would stop communicating from time to time .
I did go see a other woman I met on a phone date line and she was all lies.
I keep saying to My self " The heart is a lonely hunter ".

I prefer if he'll be the one to visit me..

For the relocating question.. not thinking that yet since my work is in here.. depends on what we'll talk but maybe yes if he's my husband already :)
