hmmm...who is the "us" and "we" you are referring to?...if this is about you, then own up to it and say "I", then perhaps a discussion can begin...

There are FWB, one night stands, and marriage (or very similar). Oh ya, and platonic. Take your choice. The only variable I see is how the balance between friends and benefits works out.

Why would you out FWB if you don't mean it?

I don't want FWB, do if a man has that on his profile, I'm not at all interested.

So how do you differentiate between a FWB relationship and regularly dating someone that ends up sexually? If you have dated someone 5 - 10 times and then have sex, what is that if not a FWB relationship?

fwb is typically defined as sex first and other stuff/dating after and no emotional attachment
more plainly said
a **** buddy

Yes... At least it stops me... I want more than just friendship and a roll in the hay...

Why say it if you don't mean it? That also would stop me. If a man says he wants that and after meeting me says "Oh I didn't mean it"... I'd say BS... and regardless of if you were telling the truth, I wouldn't believe you because you lied the first time or not.

Isn't someone you like to hang out with often called a friend. smile2

If that friend and yourself are attracted sufficiently and so inclined to relieve eachother's stresses without creating more stresses, isn't that a benefit. happy

With no direct or implied request for an exclusive ongoing commitment to eachother for the forseeable future, apart from just remaining friends.
No need to 'couple', or ,'nest', or 'meet the parents', or explain to anyone, or get joint bank accounts, etc. happy

Whatever you get up to as friends, gardening, art, sport, hobbies, book club, whatever, if you have no formal 'partner', wouldn't it be nice to take a break and share a few intimate moments together, enjoy eachother in a special way, and then get back to your friendly activities as usual, without hangups. smile2

Or do all your intimate moments really need to be tied up in special agreements, and rigid exclusivity, and exchanges of real and intangible items of value. what

Do you want to be friends with no benefits ? Or benefits without friendliness ?

I think before about 100,000 years ago, all relationships before marriage was invented were friends with benefits.

From my experience, about 95% of the women anywhere near my age aren't interested in a FWB relationship. So, I put a FWB would be nice in my profile so we don't have to waste our time. If they're not interested in something like that at all, and I am, we don't have any common ground to meet on.

That is the best explaination of FWB I have seen and if one is open to that it can work. Most of the time 'friends' gets lost in 'benefits'.

I this is a 50 and over crowd and Im not 50 but I thought why not answer this.

Alfie, it depends on the woman.

Most women looking for long term will avoid a profile that indicates he wants a FWB, she will secretly thank him for his honesty but will move on

A younger woman or a career woman who isn't looking for commitment will welcome that, but usually they are attracted to men that is financially stable and can provide an adventure.

If he is an older fella, and he has money and I know you're in the UK, and lets say you have the means to pop into London, or Paris France or Berlin , she would be more than glad to accept your friends with benefits proposal.

But if you have nothing to offer, not many will be interested.

I had a FWB once beyond the small service station and would rotate my tires and change my oil at a reasonable price

So true, you framed it like it is. Problem is nowadays honesty is nowhere to be found, on both sides. Many guys, other than those pathological liers, still find themselves having to lie in order to conform with the universal female play book, which amazingly somehow all women have read and mastered.
I say, let's all come out and say it like it is, I'm a strong believer that if you have it coming you will ultimately get it, hopefully without having to go through too much water and soap. LMFAO!
