For me the site moves slow and it takes forever to sort through emails. So, I don't bother.

the percentage people on the forums is small, but most seems to be real people on the forum side.

on the dating side not so much, its a free site and with it attracts all sorts

You can set filters.
Also you can go to the who's online festure and see of there are people near you.

Forums on any site, are a great idea. Too bad so many sites think they are a waste of server space, and sabotage them.

Forums do a number of positive things. They allow people who have been out of the dating loop for a while, to get used to interacting with people again; they allow people to ask questions about modern dating lingo and behaviors, and get responsive answers, which aren't possible from just looking stuff up on Google.

And every now and then, people meet directly through the forums, and good stuff happens. The person who originally led me to this very site, ended up marrying a guy she met through the forums, and they are having a very nice time.

with forums and email.

Beyond that, it's whatever each individual

I'm just here. Can't tell who's serious, who's given up and now just like playing in the forums.. there's certainly no one close on here to date, but have made some great friends, male and female.. so, win win I guess..

Recon I did have a wonderful date with one from here, so all hope is not lost.
