Curios is on the right track. It is absolutely true that the physical attractiveness is purely based on our evolution. And to throw this in there, the laws of nature come in to play "the survival of the fittest". Men are genetically wired(i guess you could say..) to be more appealed to a woman in great shape than a woman who's, say, overweight and not in shape. It's about what kind of genes we want to pass on to the children we have, the next generation. As well, the female is also in better condition to take care of her young.

Another thing to note though, is that in our time today there's a large crowd of men who don't desire a certain level of physical attractiveness and base their decisions on the level of intelligence a woman has. These types of men look to mate and have children who are more intelligent and sometimes have a higher mental capacity. But that's not to say that someone who is very attractive physically isn't smart, but sometimes it's either one or the other.


As for me.. a sexy lady with a smart noggin wins me over any day :-P

About the genetically wired thing in fact the ancient tribes in the motherland still practiced to this day to look for in shape girls true, but their definition of in shape is relative, they want a bigger woman, it shows she's sustained a healthy lifestyle for herself in such harsh conditions.

you're very right on that. It's also a cultural thing, but there's not many cultures that roll that way. The majority usually goes the way i explained.

The first thing I look for in a lady is her face. Because a lady who is overweight who jhas a pretty face could excercise and eat healthier she can lose weight and be a major league hottie whereas a lady who does have a tight butt firm boobs but does not have a pretty face and an ugly personality may be cute but won't be a hottie like the lady with the pretty face. Besides when we all grow older things will start to sag and droop and I'd much rather be with a lady who has a pretty face and pretty personality. Thats right ladies I'm a man who wants the lady to have a pretty personality too because when we all grow older and certain body parts stop working I would like to be able to still love and share my life with the lady.

I think it is a mix. Biology, culture, and personal preference. In todays current culture thin is in, big boobs, flat stomach, with the small tight butt. In other parts of the world, biology dictates the storage of excess fat in the buttocks and thighs along with cultural influences, and those women are the attractive ones. I my self while not having a preference for BBW ladies, do like a curvy shape, med-small breasts.

There is an uncontrollable instant reaction to a woman that is physically attractive. However a relationship has be built on a lot more then that.

Why do women spend 60 billion dollars a year on revlon and clairol. I don't see men buying revlon and clairol.

Grandma puts on her "avon" products when she goes out chasin men at bingo. She pulls up her skirt up to about to her ankles and gives those old men a cleavage shot.

Personal preference is personal preference, Why do people always have to question someones personal preference. Just because some men like a fit and trim women doesn't mean EVERY man does.
But lets face it. From a distance, I can't tell you have a great personallity, But I can tell if you have a great butt and boobs. There for, the first attraction is physical. If those great butt and boobs are attached to a jerk, that will diminish the physical attraction. Please lets stop whining about what other peoplfind attractive. Its a no win situation....

I don't know about that. Different cultures have widely different ideology of what's attractive and what is ideal. They also prioritize differently. In china for example, white skin if considered attractive dark skin isn't. It's a class thing, dark skin meant that you worked in fields and were of lower class than nobility who spend time indoors and would stay pale. As weird as it might seem, feet are important to asian, girls should have little feet, they go so far as to bind them tightly as little girls so they don't grow.

In africa large women were especially attractive because nobility could afford to eat. So largness shows status. There's also tribes that value neck length or other featurs.

I'm not sure about other cultures but to make a blanket statement as if you understand all other cultures is a bit sophmoric.

It's as much class status as evolution because if it were solely evolutionary men wouldn't dig thin chicks with flat toned abs. Toned abs and low body fat would be an evolutionary disadvantage, reduced energy stores. The idea of what constitutes beauty changes on a time scale much more miniscule than what it would take if it were only decided by evolution. Though evolution does play a role as well.
