Did you know farmed salmon has color added to it?

I just found out today.
Naturally, it is a light grey.

frustrated

I suspect they try to imitate the naturally colored wild-caught and/or red sockeye salmon. whoa

"Color added" on a label for salmon and salmon products means that the salmon were given a feed which contains a pigment called astaxanthin. When the feed is digested, the astaxanthin is absorbed into the fish's flesh giving the fillets or steaks a reddish or 'salmon' color."

I only buy the fresh wild-caught sockeye salmon, in season. You might like it. Much more, and better, flavor.

It's about $25/lb. So I buy it once a year. I don't buy, or order, regular salmon.

Reading about salmon, it is related to trout - besides being a fish. LOL

Salmon is the common name for several species of ray-finned fish in the family Salmonidae. Other fish in the same family include trout, char, grayling and whitefish

Did you know farmed salmon has color added to it?

Yes.

Did you know most commercially available roses have had their scents bred out and are perfumed, otherwise you are smelling something other than actual "rose?"
A rose by any other name could smell sweeter, or not at all, depending on where you get it.

I have noticed, in the last few years, roses have much less fragrance than they used to have. Thanks for that explanation. waving

what's wrong with people?? I could care less what color a fish is, why do they? Everything we eat has some kind of chemical additive added to it, no wonder why the world is so messed up...
