people have been building ships of some sort,and trying to navigate the waters of this world for about as long as there have been people.
[homo sapiens,anyway!]

the whole 'the earth is flat' story is a laughable invention that only the most gullible landlubbers would believe,because it is VERY obvious to anybody that has ever been out on the open waters that the earth is NOT flat,because you can watch both land,and other ships disappear over the curvature of the horizon with any distance greater than just a couple of miles.

unfortunately,though,most of the people that made these early sea voyages did not know how to read,or write,and in many cases,didnt even have a written language to record these voyages with,so we will never know exactly how far stretched their discoveries were,and all we have to work with are these few archeological sites that only tell us just enough to make us hunger for more knowledge about these amazing people who braved the waters before modern man started recording their voyages,and discoveries.

Take a look at what socialism has done to Venezuela ... thousands in the street. thankfully there's a lot of territory between us and them. The US is going to back the protesters Interim President... get that dictator out of there. and once again, If there the cliffs along the Rio Grande are too tall to climb, use some drones and heliocopters, but ANY empty space needs a wall. If anyone here wants to spend money to feed the illegals and pay for them to learn Inglis do so. What are YOU doing to help our Native Americans forced onto lousy land called Reservations? what is that - double-talk????

"Since the turn of the century, every big country in South America except Colombia has elected a socialist president at some point. Socialists have taken power in South America’s largest economy (Brazil), in its poorest (Bolivia) and in its most capitalist (Chile). Socialists have led South America’s most stable country (Uruguay) as well as its most unstable (Ecuador). Argentina and Peru elected leftists who, for various reasons, didn’t refer to themselves as socialists — but certainly governed as such.

Mysteriously, the supposedly automatic link between socialism and the zombie apocalypse skipped all of them. Not content with merely not-collapsing, a number of these countries have thrived.

Take Peru. When Ollanta Humala, widely seen as one of the most radical hard-left leaders in the region, was elected president in 2011, 28 percent of Peruvians were poor. In office, Humala governed from the left, but sensibly, investing in the poor while nurturing economic growth. By the time he handed over power in 2016 (peacefully, to a right-wing successor), just 21 percent of Peruvians were poor.

Some argue that it was Humala’s relative moderation that averted disaster. But look across his southeastern border. In Bolivia, a hard-core socialist, Evo Morales, has been in power since 2006. Morales’s tenure lays waste to any notion that countries succeed only under “moderates” — he’s a proper extremist, a hard-leftist who nationalized the nation’s most lucrative industry, and it’s an incontestable fact that he has handled the nation’s finances with prudence and scored real social achievements along the way. According to the World Bank, under Morales poverty in Bolivia fell by a third, with none of the economic chaos Venezuela has seen."

First of all, anyone who would quote the post is obviously a left winger who doesn't understand fact from opinion. The post is 90% opinion!

Some level of socialism is necessary, we have that here today. The problem is that most socialist economies do not reinvest enough in their economies to keep them growing. Anytime the government gives something to the people, they demand more. Unless you, as a government, are willing to say no when people demand too much you get a Venezuela!

oh...
I see what the problem is now....
you dont know the definition of the words 'fact',and 'opinion'

As socialist Venezuela collapses, socialist Bolivia thrives. Here’s why.

"Venezuela ran large budget deficits every year, even as oil prices skyrocketed between 2005 to 2014. That meant the country was piling on debt even as government revenue exploded — a senseless, pro-cyclical policy that left Venezuela up a creek without a paddle when commodity prices tanked.

In the meantime, Bolivia was running budget surpluses every year between 2006 and 2014. This allowed it to draw down the public sector’s debt, which fell from 83 percent of GDP in 2003 to just 26 percent in 2014, even as Bolivia built up its international reserves dramatically, from $1.7 billion in 2005 to $15.1 billion at the end of the boom in 2014."

yes,the dating apps DO work,but not exactly as they are advertised...

the way they work is that they make money for the people who own them,even the 'free' sites,because most of them have advertisements on them,which brings in revenue for the owners,depending o how many members they have that might potentially see the ads,just like any other 'free' site.

not to mention that they are a treasure trove of free personal information that people voluntarily put on them that can be used/sold for marketing purposes.

in case you hadn't noticed,that is facebook's business model,too,and it appears to be working out very well for them,doesnt it?

this thread is about racists,and white supremacists using the red MAGA hat and slogan as a symbol of their racism,which they have adopted because donald trump has once again normalized racism,and made it A LOT more mainstream,and socially acceptable than it was just a few years ago.

I think that the attack on Jussie Smollett a few days ago,where the attackers used MAGA slogans is a real good example that this is true,isnt it?

The latest in Arizona that border patrol has to look after and babysit. Why give them an easy, walk across situation?

247 people does not an emergency make, especially when:

Similar to other groups of families, these migrants willingly surrendered to Border Patrol with no attempts to evade or hide from authorities.

If we just left them there and didn't look after them, would you consider that an emergency? How about a thousand just left in the Arizona desert in the summer? How many would need to die before you considered it an emergency? With a decent barrier, many wouldn't even try; they now count on the border patrol to arrest them and provide for their care - makes no sense!

It does if where they are leaving is worse, and they expect people where they go to be humane.

LMAO!!!
I think that when people start trying to disguise racism as 'concern for the brown people's health',it simply REEKS of desperatrion,doesnt it?

who was being racist or said anything about 'concern for brown people's health'?

the one you have been responding to who is making the posts that says the reason we need the wall is to keep all of those poor migrants from dying out in the desert heat,of course.

it is exactly the same thing as when trump is calling the migrants coming across the border a 'humanitarian crisis' as a way to try to pretend his reason for wanting to build the wall isn't because he is a racist,and wants to keep people who aren't white from entering the country.

it doesnt take a genius to see through a story like THAT,does it?

As a lot of you have probably heard if you have seen any type of news in the past couple of days,one of the stars of the FOX TV series 'EMPIRE',Jussie Smollett,who is both black,and gay,was attacked outside his apartment building in Chicago.

Smollett was badly beaten,had a chemical of some sort poured on his face,and had a noose placed around his neck by his attackers before they fled the scene,yelling "This is MAGA country!".

Several days before the attack happened,a death threat note was sent to FOX studios addressed to "Jesse Smollett" "Empire" with "MAGA" written on it,and a racial,and homophobic slurs inside it,along with threatening images,depicting two men and a gun.

This is just further proof that the "MAGA" hat,and slogan has now become a well known symbol of racists,and white supremacists in this country.

The simplest way I can put it is that the hood came with a MANDATE to be a bigot, whereas the cap does not.

I dont think all Trump supporters are the same. I take people as they present themselves. I think Americans in general hold alot of bigotry towards minorities (not just racial), so thats another element that makes me hesitant to compare that dumb cap with that offensive hood.

I have been on the receiving end of assumptions in the past. For instance, the bigotry against my minority(african americans) has been argued to come from this assumption of us being violent based on MOST of those convicted of (keeping in mind conviction is not always proof of actual guilt and lack of arrest and conviction is not proof of actual innocence) are African American, but most African Americans are not violent criminals.

I think I feel the same about Trump supporters and that hat, when it comes to the very hateful bigot type of prejudice(there are levels, in my opinion, to the bigotry in this country). That is to say, I think the majority of hateful bigots will wear that hat and support Trump. But I dont think the majority of Trump supporters are hateful bigots, just undeducated and easily led by fear tactics.

I never said that ALL trump supporters are racist,and bigots.

as a matter of fact,i made sure to say the opposite of that in my first post.

but,i WILL say that it is a pretty good bet that MOST of the bigots,and racists in this country ARE trump supporters!!

and,they all proudly wear the red MAGA hat in public to show allegiance to the man who has publically made them feel like their racism,and bigotry is now socially acceptable.

if anybody doesn't believe this,all they have to do is open google and look at pictures taken at any recent white supremist gathering,and count the red hats that the people are wearing at them to prove that this is true.

or,google it,and TRY to prove that this isn't true!!!!

I think that it is a pretty safe bet that that is going to be AWFULLY hard to do,without cheating,or being deceitful,isnt it?

Your attempt to claim similarities to gestapo are of course entirely wrong.

Actual "Gestapo tactics" would be to arrest and incarcerate first, and then search for cause afterwards (if at all).

when people deny reality,they are forced to invent a totally different reality as a coping mechanism to rationalize their own viewpoints.

White supremacists have been marching in President Trump’s name. Literally.

President Trump has tried to move on from his insistence, in the wake of the violence last month in Charlottesville, that “both sides” were to blame. He has mostly stopped tweeting about his support for Confederate monuments. As far as the White House is concerned, the matter is resolved.

But no matter what Trump and his advisers might prefer, he’s unlikely to be able to put questions about hate groups behind him for the rest of his presidency. And that’s because the white nationalists and supremacists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klansmen, Neo-Confederates and alt-righters who gathered in Charlottesville and continue to try to organize across the nation are all marching together in his name.

All the alt-right rallies in various cities nationwide, including Charlottesville, since the election have featured prominent pro-Trump rhetoric. As they did that weekend in Virginia, the marchers in these various factions — in addition to full complements of armed militiamen and weapon-and-shield-toting “Proud Boys” — have worn red “Make America Great Again” ball caps and pro-Trump T-shirts, carried pro-Trump signs and chanted his name as often as they chant “U-S-A!”

In Seattle on Jan. 20, amid brawls outside a Milo Yiannopoulos event, the wife of a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat pulled a gun and shot an anti-fascist peacekeeper who was trying to prevent her husband from using pepper spray on counterprotesters.

In Berkeley, Calif., and Portland, Ore., “free speech” rallies led by pro-Trump alt-right groups and featuring armed and armored “Proud Boys” wearing the trademark red caps turned into large rolling melees that left dozens injured.

All these rallies have featured a diverse array of far-right extremists, reflective of the alt-right as a movement: nativists and Neo-Confederates and Klansmen, neo-Nazis and white nationalists and well-armed “Patriot” militiamen, men’s rights activists, and, of course, the smirking, polo-shirt-wearing, Pepe-banner-waving adherents of the online alt-right. They are a contentious lot, inclined to internal warfare and bickering. However, one thing unites all these groups, both within the movement and at these rallies, beyond a general loathing of all things liberal, often papering over their usual disagreements: Trump.

The problem is not just reflected in these protests, but in what has happened nationally since the election. In the first three months after Trump won the presidency, the Southern Poverty Law Center recorded an astonishing 1,372 hate incidents, nearly all of them election-related. A deep dive into the data reveals that nearly half of these incidents involve people referencing Trump, either by name or by parroting his rhetoric: groups of white thugs intimidating minorities while chanting “Trump,” for instance, or swastika graffiti accompanied by the words “Make America White Again.” The cold, hard fact that racist thugs shout and chant Trump’s name (something we all saw happening in Charlottesville) while threatening and intimidating minorities should give us all pause — particularly the president himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
welcome to REALITY,y'all!!!
please wipe your feet...
we just had the carpets cleaned!
All of these instances which involve violence have another part you did not mention. Those who disagree with their right of assembly and speech!! It takes that effort to curtail the rights of others to cause the violence. That is the risk of any protest; the fact that someone will disagree with you and try to stop your protest.
no,people's right to protest is not what I am pointing out,because everybody DOES have the right to PEACEFULLY protest.
INCLUDING the people who were there to protest the white supremists!!!
the part that YOU are trying to distract the attention away from is the fact that people committing HATE CRIMES are proudly wearing the red MAGA hats at these white supremist rallies as a symbol of unity with Donald trump,and his antisocial,and racist ideals because they feel that they have his absolute support.
the wife of the MAGA hat wearing man in seattle SHOT AN UNARMED MAN who was trying to PROTECT innocent protesters from being assaulted by her husband with a chemical weapon!
at the rallies in Portland,and berkely,the MAGA HAT WEARING WHITE SUPREMISTS attacked the people who were excercisig THEIR RIGHT TO PROTEST,because they were protesting THEM,and their racist,bigoted views.
kinda funny,how you just happened to try to gloss over THAT fact,isnt it?
And that’s because the white nationalists and supremacists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klansmen, Neo-Confederates and alt-righters who gathered in Charlottesville and continue to try to organize across the nation are all marching together in his name.
All the alt-right rallies in various cities nationwide, including Charlottesville, since the election have featured prominent pro-Trump rhetoric. As they did that weekend in Virginia, the marchers in these various factions — in addition to full complements of armed militiamen and weapon-and-shield-toting “Proud Boys” — have worn red “Make America Great Again” ball caps and pro-Trump T-shirts, carried pro-Trump signs and chanted his name as often as they chant “U-S-A!”
In Seattle on Jan. 20, amid brawls outside a Milo Yiannopoulos event, the wife of a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat pulled a gun and shot an anti-fascist peacekeeper who was trying to prevent her husband from using pepper spray on counterprotesters.
In Berkeley, Calif., and Portland, Ore., “free speech” rallies led by pro-Trump alt-right groups and featuring armed and armored “Proud Boys” wearing the trademark red caps turned into large rolling melees that left dozens injured.
All these rallies have featured a diverse array of far-right extremists, reflective of the alt-right as a movement: nativists and Neo-Confederates and Klansmen, neo-Nazis and white nationalists and well-armed “Patriot” militiamen, men’s rights activists, and, of course, the smirking, polo-shirt-wearing, Pepe-banner-waving adherents of the online alt-right. They are a contentious lot, inclined to internal warfare and bickering. However, one thing unites all these groups, both within the movement and at these rallies, beyond a general loathing of all things liberal, often papering over their usual disagreements: Trump.
The problem is not just reflected in these protests, but in what has happened nationally since the election. In the first three months after Trump won the presidency, the Southern Poverty Law Center recorded an astonishing 1,372 hate incidents, nearly all of them election-related. A deep dive into the data reveals that nearly half of these incidents involve people referencing Trump, either by name or by parroting his rhetoric: groups of white thugs intimidating minorities while chanting “Trump,” for instance, or swastika graffiti accompanied by the words “Make America White Again.” The cold, hard fact that racist thugs shout and chant Trump’s name (something we all saw happening in Charlottesville) while threatening and intimidating minorities should give us all pause — particularly the president himself.
welcome to reality...
if it looks like a duck...
and walks like a duck...
and quacks like a duck.....
people are going to assume that it is just a duck!!
UNLESS it is wearing a red MAGA hat!!
THEN,people are just going to assume that it is a RACIST duck!!
the moral of this story is that if you don't want people to think that you are a racist,you probably shouldn't wear a white hood,OR a MAGA hat out in public any more.
if you don't believe me,just ask that poor student from Kentucky who was just 'innocently standing there listening to the music' in his MAGA hat,whose whole school had to be shut down for the safety of its students because of his 'bad fashion choice'!!
lol
Problem is those that jump to conclusion before hearing the whole story..
I was referring to the story you posted above and only that incident..each case has a different ending..
So it seems you have come to the conclusion that anyone that wears a Maga Red Hat is either a racist or a bigoted by your own words..
Myself I could careless who voted for who I would never lump them all in those categories~~~ I have friends/family that are on different sides when it comes to Politics.. But when it comes right down to it they are still my friends/family and I respect their views.
To me each incident that happens one should find out all the facts before one is ready to blame it all on who they voted for.. But then that is just my opinion..
And again read the story it was not the Kids in the Red Maga Hats that was taunting the Elder. It was in fact another group that was on the other side of the kids that had the Maga hats on.. Which the boy in the pic thought if he moved and let the Elder beating on his drum go by that he would be walking into those that would attack him..
This is in one of the links I posted~~
"The fuller video would seem to assign more blame for the encounter on a group of four or five Black Hebrew Israelites.
The main speaker for the Black Hebrew Israelites, hollering without a microphone for more than an hour, first tells some demonstrating Native Americans they had their land taken away because they worshiped the wrong god."
whether the student was actually practicing racism,or not,the fact that people were so ready to jump to the conclusion that the student was being racist,just because he was wearing a red MAGA hat just proves my point that people are now associating the red MAGA hat with racism,because they have seen the connection between the two so often that it has now become a natural assumption.
I think that THIS incident pretty well proves that fact,doesnt it?
and,just for the record,i did not just pull this story out of thin air...
it is a story that has been being discussed in the news,because there are other people who are now publically making this connection....
I am just bringing it to the forums for discussion.
What gets me is some are fast on the draw to accuse others for what they think happen when in Reality it is totally different story then some seem to see since they fail to get the whole story first..
First of all the Elder that was there admits he approached the group of kids from Covington.. It was not even those kids that was taunting them.. The Elder which has a record of being a Activist himself walked up to the boy that is in front of him beating his drum and stood within touching distance. The boy pictured did not say anything to him he stood his ground with his hands behind his back. The young man pictured was already standing their and the elder approached him.
The News and Social Media took it to another level on their own. As well as others without even looking at the whole story...
Just saying people really need to wait for the whole story at times before accusing when they only have a part of the truth~
there are SEVERAL different stories of what happened there that day,in that one instance,depending on where you decide you want to look,but that still doesn't change the fact that racists have adopted the red MAGA hat as a symbol of their beliefs,and just because somebody doesn't want to accept the fact that it is a common enough occurrence that people are starting to make the association between red MAGA hats,and racism doesn't make it any less true,because people ARE starting to make that association.
I wonder why that is?
maybe it is all of the hundreds of hours of footage there is of people in their red MAGA hats at trump rallies,going especially crazy with excitement whenever trump starts his racist,and bigoted rants that he always does to fire up the crowd of his supporters.
OR,
maybe it is because of people like the man wearing the red MAGA hat that yelled racial slurs as he pushed a Hispanic man off of the platform and down onto the train tracks before running off like a coward?
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Man-in-Make-America-Great-Again-Hat-Shouted-Racial-Abuse-Shoved-Man-onto-Subway-Tracks-NYPD-480471721.html
OR,
maybe it is because of people like Nicholas Cruz,the one who shot 17 children at that school in florida,who posted pictures of himself in his red MAGA hat on his social media accounts?
https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/02/15/florida-high-school-shooting-suspect-nikolas-cruzs-instagram-profile-shows-him-wearing-maga-hat/23362848/
OR,
maybe it is because vandals do things like deface murals in historically Hispanic parts of san francisco by drawing red MAGA hats onto all of the people in the murals?
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/oct/15/san-francisco-murals-trump-maga-vandals
OR,
maybe it is because of gangs of people wearing red MAGA hats leaving a republican club meeting in new york,and then screaming homophobic slurs at people before starting to beat several of them?
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/proud-boys-new-york-assault-gavin-mcinnes_us_5bc20d60e4b0bd9ed55a96ee
OR,maybe it is because of people like the guy in the red MAGA who ran down all of those innocent people in Charlottesville,va at the protest rally??
OR,maybe it is because of all of the white supremists who proudly wear the red MAGA hats at their rallies,and 'march in the name of trump'?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/posteverything/wp/2017/09/14/white-supremacists-have-been-marching-in-president-trumps-name-literally/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.152bc8320c8e
NOOOO....
it COULDNT be because of THAT,could it??
so,is it any wonder why people were so quick to jump to conclusions,when they saw somebody on a red MAGA hat doing what appeared to be taunting a native American???
There are several people who are now comparing the red MAGA hats that trump supporters have made famous to the white hoods that the KKK wear when they practice their racism and bigotry.
I think that it is a pretty good comparison,since the trump brand is well known for its long practice of racism,and bigotry towards minorities,and if you find somebody who is a racist,or a bigot,they are USUALLY a trump supporter,and proudly wear the hat out in public while they are practicing their antisocial deeds to show their support of Donald trump and his racist,and homophobic views.
We have all seen the viral video of the high schoolers from Kentucky with a great number of them proudly wearing their red MAGA hats to show up as a unified group to protest legal abortions,and then surrounded and taunted a group of Indians protesters on camera,with one high schooler spotlighted proudly wearing his red hat as he got right in indian protester Nathan Phillips face and stood there sneering at him to try to intimidate him.
THIS is the type of antisocial behavior that we have become all too accustomed to,because whenever you see groups of people wearing the red hats,whether it is at a trump rally cheering for his racist,and homophobic views that trump spews out to excite his supporters,or on the news,when you see someone on camera after they have been singled out for practicing their own antisocial views.
I am not trying to claim that EVERYBODY that wears the red hat does these things,but I don't think that it is a coincidence that any time you see anybody doing these things that they are proudly wearing a red MAGA hat.
so...while it might not be EXACTLY like he KKK does (YET),it is similar enough to them for people to start making the connection,and associating the hat to racism,and bigotry.
