Scallops War

English and the French War ! English can stretch nets anytime and the French have to wait til October 1st .to stretch their nets !

So the French took to the waters anyway and shouted and attacked the British Fishermen. Then the French finally retreated.

Far from the first time we've seen fishing "wars." They've gone on since fishing was invented.

It's usually really about people anxious to make a living, and chafing at any limits placed on them, foreign or domestic. Like this.

a war over a country's right to fish in particular bodies of water??

at least THAT war makes a little more sense than most of them do....

MOST wars,it seems like, have some sort of 'religious' reasoning behind them somehwere, which I think is just ridiculous!!

[I believe that if somebody's 'god' wishes for something to be done,or happen,if he cant do it himself, then he must be a pretty weak 'god',and doesn't deserve for PEOPLE to have to fight, and die for him!!]

I'm more of a shrimp person myself. Nice to see people dedicated to their job.

From what I've read of the story,
the French fishermen are hobbled by the
laws of their own country.
Whereas, the English are not.

Meh...
I'm more a fan of halibut.

This happens a lot here off the Jersey shore Russian trollers are constantly caught fishing within our waters.

The Air force from McGuire AFB sends a few jets out there to buzz them back from time to time. Its a game they play with each other.

Although a few of the pilots got into a bit of trouble for setting off sonic booms right above the boats...... ball busters ;)

Interesting, must be a huge problem at times for fishermen!
Guess most are use to it since it's their way of making a Living !

I enjoy lobster and shrimp, wonder if there's war over catching them!

Here there are guy's who will go out in the bay in the night time and steal lobsters from commercial fisherman's pots then go around in their truck and sell them. There have been arrests and many fist fights between theif and fisherman
