Topic: about filling out the profile?

I did profiles, posted photos, wrote messages. What did I get? Goose egg. I don't doubt others like me have done the same for no good end. It's a lot of work and wasted time. Then someone gripes about open profiles.

You aren't seeing it from our side. Bet I re-wrote my profile a dozen times. Never changed a thing. Hundreds of messages sent with no replies. Invariably, some doofus Will come along and tell us we aren't trying hard enough. My trying hard days were long ago. By the way, I never expected the "Hi" to work, and it never did. (Yes I tried it a couple times) Five years ago, I decided to work on my own situation, and the heck with this dating business.

Rattle off a few lines, post it as a profile, and proceed to forums. No forums? I'm not there. There's no reason to, from my point of view.

So, the next time you think about questioning why profiles are so short, study on the reasons why some just don't bother.

Yeah, deuhhh... you don't have a photo. And you wonder why people don't reply?
slaphead slaphead
If a guy doesn't have a photo online, I never reply, won't even read his message. I got photos online as well, if someone can't be bothered to do that, I can't be bothered to go there.
There's enough scammers and fakes and creeps online. A photo is the least you can do.

No, I used to do photos. I thought a good bit on profiles, and wrote them. It got me zippo. Now I don't bother with it. It took a while to become indifferent to women, to view them as bodies taking up space on this planet. I would just remind myself that women looked at me the same way, I was just another body.

The only time I ever got any feedback from dating sites, was forums. I'd get comments, that's all. Short, simple, with no strings attached. The way they wanted it. I stopped believing what women wanted. What their hidden agenda is, I have no clue. Nor do I want to know, anymore.

Well, it is really quite simple: you get what you give and/or you get what you are and exude.
This is always the case, but in no area of life is it reflected so clearly as in love & dating.

People never like to hear that as it's much easier on the ego to blame others and pretend you yourself are doing everything right.
But it is the naked, ugly truth.
The solution would be to look at self, but for most that is too much to handle so they stick to blaming others, or an entire gender, for their own shortcomings.
Then they become angry, bitter, resentful, depressed,... ,... and so on.
There's more like that on here. I guess it's whatever you're happy with...

Ahh! Here we go. I never once thought I was ever doing it right. But I did expect women to at least cut me a bit of slack, and help me get better. That never happened. When efforts are not appreciated, then it isn't worth doing. Or, more the case, my effort went unnoticed, so don't bother trying that again.

Why question my motives, when I have no clue what I may have done wrong? That is what truly irritates me. It's like punishing a kid, and never telling them the reason behind it. Do it constantly, and have many others do the same to the kid, eventually, the kid will have nothing to do with those people. I'm no different.

As much as I agree and detest bare profiles, the fact is that most people don't actually read profiles anyway (hence my new screen name, borne out of frustration). They will turn around and ask you questions which were already covered on your profile, proving they just look at the pics like toddlers lol.

Those who do not complete their profiles are not seriously looking or just here to troll. So don't sweat it, ignore them and move on.

Hey people in here :)
I have a question for you :)
What is so scary about filling out even the basics in the profile and doing it honestly?
I have stumbled upon several, if not most of profiles in here that i've seen that has nearly nothing in them, not even a short selfexplanatory text about ythemselves.
Is really "hi" meaning everything or what?
Those few who really have something in their profiles such as the answers to the basics and a short text can be counted on one hand and one in particular that caught my eye hasn't even been on here for over a month according to the profile itself.
so, is it so bad to write something about yourself or is the "hi" a shortcut because it's obviously difficult to write something that might catch someones interest?

This type of question assumes that everyone is here to live to your expectations.
Its a controlling mind that thinks this way.
If you flip the question someone might think that people that write a lot or fill out their profiles are doing it wrong.

Its much easier to understand everyone is different and how somone does or doesn't fill out their profile is only their own business.

You focus on the ones within your preferences and ignore the rest.
I only live behind my own eyes.
Its impossible for me to live behind someone else's.

For me, it will only take one match.
All others are merely not a match and that's okay.
Just because they don't match for me, doesn't mean they won't match for anyone.

Whoohoo Tom that's a very good post! That's how I feels, if people don't want to fill out a profile, so what? The sun still shines and the tides still ebb:smile:

There's enough scammers and fakes and creeps online.

And plenty of them have photos.

Have you ever heard of "Dirty John"?
If not, Google it.

How about the guy in Washington state who killed a woman he had met on an online dating site and dated for a couple months, and cut up her body into pieces?
He had smiling photos on his profile.
And a criminal record in 6 states.

Photos on an online dating site don't make anyone a better human being.

I don't care how many great photos someone has on some dating site, if they're not a decent human being to begin with, I'm not interested.

And I get crap all the time because I don't have several photos...ones of me going "Hey...look at me HERE doing this thing".."check this out...was a cool thing..."...."having a great time on vacation..."

I know some people *want* to see a bunch of pics of someone "having fun", "doing things they enjoy"...I get it..
But, myself, like you said, DeeJay....I personally don't need a bunch of "hey..look at me here" pics to decide if I want to talk to you..
A head pic and body pic is sufficient for me...
I am more interested in your character, personality, interests, and can you actually participate in any meaningful conversation..and I can gather that by chatting with you.

Everyone is different...that's fine, I've heard it all..don't really care..

Just rememeber...everyone IS different....and has that right to be..and not to conform what person x, y, or z wants them to merely to suit them/ because that is what *they'd do....

Most men don't read Profiles on dating sites.

It's more important to chat and eliminate them by conversation.

Why do so many women not have photos or any details in their profiles?

Why do so many wear sunglasses or have more than one person or a dog in their profiles.

Are they deliberately trying to not attract guys? If so, why are they here? What's the point, other than an ego thing?

There's something seriously wrong...

Interesting enough the same I can say about most women on these sites (and I have to proof to back this up!). If I take a statistic of all the different sites I had been on over the years I would have to say that 60-80% of the women never read my profile, which is mostly evident by virtual winks, kisses, nudges, etc. sent but no profile views from them or the ones that contacted me through messaging and at times even mentioned they liked my profile while it was evident that they didn't read it at all, judging from content of their own message and/or no profile view evidence. And that even after we account for all the scammers that pretty much never read profiles nor your messages you sent back to them...

I found that most profiles that are not or scarcely filled out usually belong to scammers on most websites. They do mostly have pictures that don't seem to fit to the person described or just too perfect, etc. The ones that don't have any photo I totally ignore (mostly scammers, bots or not serious). I know some do not like to have their picture out there and I am the first one that feels the same way, but if you are on the dating website and you want some positive results, there is just no way around this. - Even worse is a pic of their pet only - yeah, not dating a dog!whoa slaphead

Another thing I find amusing that I read on a lot of women's profiles that they don't want anyone to message them a "Hi, "Hello" or a "How are you", etc and proclaim they will block all who do so because they think it's boring and not inventive enough, but then about 80-90% of women (yes that many!) do the exact same thing writing men.whoa Most of the rest write a whole story (the copy and paste kind) which scammers like to do many times, but very, very few are actually putting some thought into it and mention something specific from my profile when they initiate a conversation.

Everything you are observing happens on both sides...

True that! And both sexes are guilty of this.

Been my experience that no profile - or not even a pic - equates to a BOT with a horrible command of the language. Twice so far in 24hours I was offered their Wyoming cell phone number - while they are supposedly in OH or PA.

No worries, they are attracting guys - I'm a witness on a few occasions.

But as women they learned that a good pic or 2 or 3 is enough to get male attention and the validation that proves they are still "9s or 10s".

More about validation than connecting.

they just want a boost to their ego to make their miserable life better. Don't bother giving them one!!!
