Crying is a form of communication .. as an infant we cry for attention . Regardless of gender ... It is a complicated mess of Social, cultural , environmental ,developmental , biological , psychological and physiological conditioning that contribute to women crying more than men .. some of which has already been covered in this thread .. one that hasn’t been mentioned is that sexual arousal in men is reduced (in many cases) when a women cries ., ask yourself what purpose would that serve

Real talk here! It's Hormonal, if you find a man with decreased level of testosterone, you will also find the he is more prone to be affected by things that otherwise would not be on his radar! In woman the lack of estrogen will cause similar but opposite reactions.

While I've heard that hormones do have something to do with it - trans women apparently feel their emotions a lot more intensely once they start taking estrogen, for example - a big reason imo is that there's a social pressure for men not to cry. We're denigrated from a young age for crying. Our parents discourage us from crying, whether it's comments about how only girls cry or that crying makes you a baby. And as an adult, I get it - crying kids are annoying, and they're a handful, and the less time kids spend crying is seen as for the better. But it messes with our emotions when we internalise that message of crying being bad. Like somehow it's only socially acceptable to cry when your kids are born or when a particularly good dog passes away. To stand there still as a stone, showing a stoic front, is the epitome of manliness to many. That's why Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation is such a beloved character - he rings true as both an example and a pastiche of that mindset. People who are otherwise suffering and who could benefit from a release of emotion that isn't channeled through alcohol and violence feel pressured to meet that standard, despite what they need. We feel the need to inhabit a particular box to keep up appearances, and even when we realise how unpleasant our lives are or how miserable we are, spending a lifetime inhabiting that box makes it incredibly hard to cry when we realise just how much we need to. Hormones probably factor into it to a degree, sure. But I think that social pressure to "be a man" is a significant factor in that statistic.

The other day I read women cry four times more than men in general. What’re the reasons? Women are more Emotional. Some men come Close.

LOL, as a guy with 6 older sisters.. listening to them growing up... I would say men ;-) just an observation from a male perspective. women tend to be more in touch with their emotions, and they carry them closer to the surface. so they cry when their happy, they cry when their sad, they cry when their hurt. but when a man cries.. it's basically when he's lost something/some one that he cant handle loosing. something that hurts so deep, that the tears are forced out of him. but, thats just my thoughts.

Kathy women cry more than men because they are more sensitive to the to insensitive behaviour of others. a kind word now and then costs nothing but can make such a difference to women who after all are the the heart of hope for the human race!

Wow So it's not because they got bigger lungs then men It's good to cry and let it out, rather than to remain festering underneath... I'm not ashamed to say I cry every nearly blue moon, when feelings take over ...
