When I had to study American culture etc. for my teacher study I of course came across the law system too. I couldn't get my head fully around it as it's so complex. Marshall, state, federal law, and what not.
I wondered why it had to be so complex, and wondered if even an American would understand how the hell it all worked.

Now I was reading this book and what it basically comes down to is that the federal stuff goes all the way back to general Washington and the time the United States were founded?

In the book Washington was forced to sign a treaty with a group of rather powerful people that they'd get certain parts of land around Washington, which then weren't much more than swamps, and it also said that he'd give the power back to the separate states, which would destroy the newly founded United States and all Washington had worked for.
Later on Washington managed to hide that treaty, but that group is trying to find it. They are now the federal government, meaning that if they'd get their hands on the treaty they have the right to separate from the United States and form their own identity, a superpower.
The United States would fall apart and the power would be returned to the states.
Apparently the federal government owns about a third of the land?

Now I'm not sure how much of this is fiction.
All this to-do with the freemasons, Templar and the group the now federal government comes from makes my head spin, hihi.
But there must've been a reason that Washington built Washington the way he
did, with all the alignments etc.

The peculiar thing is that in the book this group which is now the Federal Government claimed to be descendants from Atlantis, and they mentioned they were warriors, like the Atlanteans, which is BS, out to destroy other countries so they'd be the only superpower. Now Atlantis wasn't about this, but...

So I'm posting this, wondering what you know and/or think of this?

And enlighten me if you know... Did the Americans at the time of Washington NOT want to be united and felt betrayed by Washington who did unite them under one government?

I found your post interesting.
I don't have any further wisdom about what you said.
You probably know more than many Americans because i think the school system or whoever only teaches what is deemed favorable.
I have learned or heard somewhere that it's ironic Washington was a leader of this country when he wanted to be awarded a place in the service of British military.
I do know that Washington has Masonic symbols on his tomb.
I learned recently that the signers of the Constitution lived in misery and persecution. They did not have the happy ever after that we all assime.

The complexities and confusion, stem from a group
of worthless, do nothing, azz-bags in Washington D.C.,
commonly referred to as the 'United States Congress'.

:joy::joy:
I remember learning about that at school as the idea of chucking tea in the bay seemed rather useless an action to me, haha.
I cannot remember all the Ins and outs of it, except of course it was an act against the Brits.

Oh, there's so much secretive stuff concerning those days... I'll doubt we'll ever hear of it, could be even the presidents of the US don't know.
I'm quite certain that the ones in power stem from those days too. I just don't know if they're freemason, Illuminati, or something else based.
In the book I mentioned this is also linked to the Vatican who apparently - according to this book-- has also been infiltrated by these people. Quite something.
If you watch or read about what went down in the days of Washington - the stuff that we are allowed to know that is-- it's mind-boggling haha. Spies, intrigues, secret groups and chit.

There's lots of Masonic symbols and things, the whole of Washington's first buildings and monuments are built according to their teachings. Aligned with certain stars and constellations, like the pyramids in Egypt.

Also on the dollar bill you find symbols. On one for instance a pyramid with the tip with an eye in it (eye of Horus? ) floating above it. This also means something, both the pyramid which apparently has to do with this anti-United States group (Federal Government) but also the fact the tip is floating above it has meaning ( I forgot what, hihi).
The US has an eagle for symbol.

Also interesting: Washington or part of it was first called "Rome". The Eagle was also the symbol of the Roman Empire, something I've wondered about before.
This name was because part of land was owned by a man who's family name was Pope and he was crazy about Italy.
He called a stream/river on his land "Tiber".
This Tiber is now underground, still runs, I believe underneath the Mall.

There's also chit loads of tunnels from Washington's days underneath Washington. Lord knows what for and what it's (still) used for? And what is there.

I find that stuff very intriguing!

The Mason's is just a club. No different then the local bar. What I mean is when I lived in New Jersey use to go to the bars to talk with people to find work and what's happening in the area.

My grandfather was a Mason until he couldn't afford it. He was disowned by his family cause he married my grandmother. She was a Swed, dirt poor and a maid. So he married the "help". The great depression hit and over the next 8 years he went through his savings at which time he got a job from a friend he met as a Mason. After he retired his job as a barge captain went with him.

Lots of the conspiracy stuff is to get you to look over there. Don't look at we are doing here. There's many different groups, politicians and organizations trying to get power, money, influence and/or control.

Washington DC was created to get everyone to agree to be apart of the USA. That's why it's a mess because of the wheeling ' dealing of politicians.

Not surprised. I think it;ll be part of quite a number of movies and series. It is quite intriguing after all and makes for some good material, hihi. Like the book I was reading.

It's also part of the series "Turn", where Washington isn't president or post-president yet.

In speculative fiction there is a sub-genre of science fiction called alternate timelines.
The stories play on changes to the timeline which results in different current realities.

Some ATSF authors of note:

Kim Stanley Robinson
Harry Turtledove
Poul Anderson
Philip JosΓ© Farmer
H. Beam Piper
L. Sprague de Camp
Maureen F. McHugh

We the States: An Alternate History Novel
by Adam Sivitz
Imagine if the United States Constitution had never been ratified and George Washington had never become President. In We the States, author Adam Sivitz creates an alternative narrative acted out by the founding fathers of the United States. As the story unfolds, readers find George Washington at home in Virginia impatiently awaiting news of each state’s response to the constitution. Patrick Henry will persuade Virginia to reject the constitution, which will lead to the formation of three independent countries, and Alexander Hamilton will become the leader of one of the newly formed countries.
Within the tumultuous and divisive chain of events, Sivitz weaves the tale of two slaves owned by Washington. Their story displays the darker side of U.S. history and underscores the struggle for freedom for so many, while also reminding readers of the ongoing fight for equality and justice.

The Trial and Execution of the Traitor George Washington
By Charles Rosenberg
A thought-provoking novel that imagines what would have happened if the British had succeeded in kidnapping General George Washington, for fans of alternate histories like The Plot Against America, The Guns of the South and The Man in the High Castle. British special agent Jeremiah Black, an officer of the King's Guard, lands on a lonely beach in the wee hours of the morning in late November 1780. The revolution is in full swing but has become deadlocked. Black is here to change all that. His mission, aided by Loyalists, is to kidnap George Washington and spirit him back to London aboard the HMS Peregrine, a British sloop of war that is waiting closely offshore. Once he lands, though, the ''aid by Loyalists'' proves problematic because some would prefer just to kill the general outright. Black manages -- just -- to get Washington aboard the Peregrine, which sails away. Upon their arrival in London, Washington is imprisoned in the Tower to await trial on charges of high treason. England's most famous barristers seek to represent him but he insists on using an American. He chooses Abraham Hobhouse, an American-born barrister with an English wife -- a man who doesn't really need the work and thinks the ''career-building'' case will be easily resolved through a settlement of the revolution and Washington's release. But as greater political and military forces swirl around them and peace seems ever more distant, Hobhouse finds that he is the only thing keeping Washington from the hangman's noose. Drawing inspiration from an actual kidnapping plot hatched in 1776 by a member of Washington's own Commander-in-Chief's Guards, Charles Rosenberg has written a compelling novel that envisions what would take place if the leader of America's fledgling rebellion were taken from the nation at the height of the war, imperiling any chance of victory.

For trying to understand United States Law its best to read actual law as it is in place because it is ever-changing.

In the United States, people have free access to all government public documents.
You can read the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Federal Register and public court records.
Websites that offer this have a .gov url.
Example, The Federal Register is http://www.federalregister.gov/
Federal Law is http://www.usa.gov/laws-and-regs
Washington D.C. Law is http://dc.gov/page/laws-regulations-and-courts
New York STATE law is http://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/CONSOLIDATED
New York CITY Law is http://www1.nyc.gov/site/law/index.page

In the United States, there are 'tiers' of laws.
Federal, State, City and Local

Then you have...

Dumb Laws in America
There are truly some wacky laws out there
http://www.dumblaws.com/law/1557

In Pittsburgh, PA it is illegal to have sex on top of a refrigerator.
In Minnesota, A person may not cross state lines with a duck atop his head.
In Mississippi, Adultery or Fornication (living togeather while not married or having sex with someone that is not your spouse) results in a fine of $500 and/or 6 months in prison.
In Ohio, It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday. It is also illegal to get a fish drunk.

Dodo's right, and so is motowndowntown and SpaceCodet and probably Rockgnome, though I never saw the particular show he mentioned.

The only part of what you read that wasn't fiction, was the names of the people, and the fact that there is a country called the United States.

As for the alignments I'm sure they talked about, the idea that Masons secretly made sure that five pointed stars and pyramid shapes were created by the grand avenues that L'Enfante and his successors pencilled in, is made obviously silly, from the fact that in order to make the star shapes especially work, you have to hold any DC map at an extreme acute angle and close one of your eyes.

Do most Americans understand how the government actually works? Not that I've ever witnessed. But that's an unrelated story for another discussion.
