I would bet everyone has a different idea of what true love is.

What is your definition of 'True Love'?

True Love is either what Buttercup and Westley have for each other, or . . .

. . . it is some fictional ideal created to appease people who believe that life is a Harlequin Romance novel.

True love is the one who grow old wth you. Who ever you are...what ever you are... and wherever you are...she will stay wth you.

True love, is deeply inhaling the scent
of a brand new vinyl record album.

I have not seen the movie.
That is fictional love... I am sure true love is real...

I think to me true love would be a heart-based & heart-carried relationship.

I felt years ago that there's levels of love, without diminishing or judging any of them. Now I understand that there's love on emotional level (most relationships) and heart-carried relationships.

I don't think duration has much to do with it. Look at Rose in "Titanic". True love, yet he died, and she had to move on by herself and find happiness in life.

I've had what I'd call true love, the heart-carried thing. Truly an entirely different level on every aspect. But it didn't last.
Hoping to find it again with another man, and for it to last this time. I doubt I could do the emotional level again.

True love is to give freedom, acceptance, and encouragement, and be there to help through stumbles, and to pick up the pieces when plans fail. Expect nothing, and want to give plenty.

What is your definition of 'True Love'?

I see it like dragons, alligators, and apes.

IMO a lot of people sit around and in their life they encounter an alligator.
Then it runs off.
They build up stories and legends about the alligator ultimately turning it into a dragon; then they need knights and princesses, mental and emotional wizardry, to run around and fight and rescue and capture it and crap.

Personally, I'd rather be like Dian Fossey and let the direct experience define itself, keep my eyes open, respond, adapt, and be able to live among the apes.

IOW find someone and we define it in a way that's relevant to our relationship founded in reality.

I could sit here and spew some romantic nonsense that has no real meaning in practical reality, emotional masturbation, but how would that actually help you?
How would that actually not harm you? Especially if it influences you to adopt some specious notion that could possibly blind you to some reality you might find with someone else?

I wanted to marry my brother. He was everything a boy should be.
Of course he is gay, but the best guy ever, from the way he dresses, humor, protectiveness, dance moves, poetry writing, he taught me chess and what love is.

I find to define true love in words, other than it is completely unadulterated... the purest energy of all that is good and innocent.

I'm not much of a bible reader but there is one verse that comes to mind that I whole heartedly believe defines true love...
