Will that little groundhog see his shadow tomorrow? Hope not and we have a early Spring! :sun_with_face:

According to the weather forecast in Pennsylvania, it's not likely. Although who knows, we've been having awfully warm weather this time of year. I'm guessing we're going to get slammed with snow at the end of the season.

It's a 134 year old American tradition,
used to predict the onset of Spring,
or two more weeks of Winter.

All based on a groundhog seeing it's shadow.

Groundhog Phil lives in Pennsylvania. If he sees his shadow on February 2nd, it's said we'll have 6 more weeks of winter. If not, we have an early spring.

It's a tradition here in the United States, and Canada. Here's a link to read about it.

Yay... Phil couldn't find his shadow! Hopefully this year his prediction of an early spring will be spot on.

I've spent the morning, trying to convince people,

That after the ceremony, Groundhog Phil
is butchered, then fed to the kids in the
school cafeteria.

I'm a cloggie, I didn't get it either, hihi.
I also didn't get the movie way back when, and didn't like it much, prolly for reasons of not knowing about this groundhog thing.

It’s one of those things like dousing rods; people know that it generally tends to work but there is not much of a consensus as to why it generally works.

Thinking, one could quantify the length of time for optimum UV exposure based on the length of their shadow (15 min if stumpy shadow, 23 min if head height shadow, 45 min if double-height shadow) offtopic

It makes me think if it's related to Imbolc one way or another, Celtic festival of February 1st.
