For me it's about making an emotional connection with someone.....All the other stuff is great, but I want to be in love feel that nervous feeling in your stomach, listen to songs that make you think of your person...

Yeah, the problem I see with that is, you crave the residual feelings that
being in love exploits..but..what happens when they go away? You will think
you are not in love at all when the opposite may be true.

Some folks need that 'high' and forever search for it.
They move on when it runs out.

Contentment can be its own high.

Hmm.

Point of view, or semantics perhaps...

but I think its possible to have repeated reassurance that someone is desirable as a person. A little like repeatedly allowing yourself to be convinced that you are right to be with them.

Maybe that's what "contentment" is.

Eventually the butterflies and love chemicals settle down. You still choose each other, desire is still there, but instead of being on cloud 9 continually, (would we survive in that mode forever?), you find contentment in each other.
Reality kicks in and the fairytale fades into true love, with commitment.

I'm a little bit confused.
...What do you think "all the other stuff" is actually for/does? Not emotionally bonding/connecting? Or has no relevance to emotionally bonding/connecting?
Also, or firstly, what, to you, is "all the other stuff?"

Those butterflies can be fleeting. True connection stays, endures,
and flourishes in other ways when you truly, madly deeply, love someone.

Emotional commitment is like a puzzle....lots of pieces that might fit ( sometime forced) but only 1 true fit. And when you find it suddenly the picture becomes clearer. Hope this makes everyone want to do a puzzle. Stay safe.

Good for you!
You know what you want but do you know how to get it?
You must be a very strong person emotionally.
Most people exist in a life of emotional turmoil.
Finding someone to connect on your emotional level will be pretty difficult.
I wish you luck in your quest.

Have you watched Zombieland Double Tap?
Have you spent much time in a mall freezer?
Perhaps you should look for a peaceful commune?
There you might find like-minded people to connect with.
