There have been a growing number of reports and protesters over the last few years, Sadly now and for the wrong reason these places will have found out just what it is like without .
Many bars, restaurants, hotels, mini tours, and endless holiday businesses will never re open

Living on the south coast in a small tourism town we are being hard hit by this but not as hard as it could get, yet...
Even the towner-bars are closed and all the casinos.

Accustomed to hurricane closures so far I haven't seen any actual going out of business signs and there is still beachfront strip construction. A new restaurant/bar is almost finished. I noticed many of the strip bars are doing remodeling as well.
No casinos are going out of business so far.

One of the biggest events in my town was canceled this year. Early April has the Salmon horse sale and people come from all over the country and this was the 48th year for this. Campgrounds, hotels and restaurants lost out, but I'm glad they canceled it.

I will be glad when people go back to work but mainly I will be glad when that Corona is cleared up.

Our State is opening May 1, with precautions in place by our Governor. Things won't be the same right away.

People are still traveling and crowding in places, which is not good at this time.

It's always swings & roundabouts. I live in the biggest tourist area of the Netherlands and I personally hate it. I am, however, well aware that thanks to these people we have pizzerias, other restaurants, large supermarkets, other shops, jobs for people and a thriving economy. This province has nothing else and used to always be poor, have young people leave and the population ageing, nothing to do anymore either.
I think people who have been reared here are used to it, I'm not, I'm not from here.
My kids have had jobs and income because of tourism, and I'm grateful for that.

But the inconvenience caused by tourists...
So it's that we need them here, most of the province is dependent on tourism, but if I had a choice I'd rather have them FO.

Typical, I just came across an article saying that Venice is thinking about limiting tourism after lockdown. The reason they now see what difference it makes; the waters of the canals are crystal clear now!

So wow! Maybe people will finally begin to realise and take responsibility for the mess they make everywhere they go, especially when on holiday.

It's an important point that mass tourism contributes to the destruction of the very things that attracted tourists in the first place.

Im a Tourism grad and I think tourism produces cons but there is no such thing as bad tourism as long as the people in power and the tourist itself knows the term "Sustainable Tourism" in which Sustainable tourism is an industry committed to making a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate future employment for local people. The positive of sustainable tourism is to ensure that development is a positive experience for local people; tourism companies; and tourists themselves...as said by google...its not a stop but minimizes the bad effect on the environment...as what people said " the only constant is change"...so yah its not that bad as long as one knows how to minimize things.
