3 young women kidnapped, locked up in some contraption in a huge barn in the middle of nowhere. Two are sisters, the other a stranger.
The were tied up, but managed to free themselves. Eventually they manage to push a side of the contraption out far enough and one shoots through. But... the other 2 cannot get it to move with just the two of them.
Then there's a grill in the floor that leads to a sewer and possible escape route.
The one that's now out the contraption -one of the sisters- starts trying to loosen that with a crowbar.

Now my question...

Is that the smartest thing to do when the kidnapper can come back any minute?
Would you focus on the grill and getting out OR would you focus on getting the other 2 free so all of you can leave and defend each other in case the a-hole comes back unexpectedly?

What do you think is the smartest and offers highest change of surviving such a thing?

I myself am in 2 minds about it.

Crowbar in hand?
I'd smack the kidnapper in the noggin
with it, and walk out.

Sorry...
I'm not a very good helper.

Yeah, that'd be my thought too, but if the dude is stronger... she's just a teenage girl and the a-hole kept showing up with a tazer.
Thing is... she had the benefit of surprise as he didn't know she was out. He had to descend a stairs to get to the contraption, she could've gone for it then with the crowbar.
But I think my nr1 priority -for as long as the kidnapper was gone- would be to get
the other 2 out. Safety of numbers. Bigger chance of taking him out with 3.
But maybe it IS safer to get out and get help. Not sure.

Crowbars have the flat end.
Like a skewer, ram that up his
crotch, right through his pants.
I promise you, dood ain't gettin'
back up anytime soon after that.

When in doubt if you can handle the dude that might be the smartest option. But I'd feel horribly guilty if something would then happen to my sister that I'd left behind.
Then again, if you don't get out there may not be hope for anyone.
Thank you!

I'm reminded of an advise from an old timer that goes if you're afraid to be alone get a dog , don't get a gun cuz if you do bad people will use it on you .

In your scenario self preservation will be at the forefront of your decision.

There is an old army saying ., leave no man behind . My first instinct would be to find something to protect myself with and help the others to escape . How far away is help ??? There is a risk that In the time I went for help that he would kill them . Sure I may survive ... but what quality of life would that be.

Yep, a nice dilemma.
Also, if you do manage to escape you have to keep your wits about you and all you do.
I tend to shift into 6 higher gears when in an emergency situation but not sure if I already had that when a teen of approx. 15 nor if I'd had that after a kidnapping situation.

It was a scenario from a series I'm watching, and it had me in 2 minds. Still has btw, haha.
But she was daft, ran over an unpaved road as opposed to through the bushes/trees, dumped the one shoe she still had at the side of that road. It was found. She ended up at the shores of a huge lake, ran over the beach in the open instead of among or through the tree line, and was caught.

I don't think I'd be exactly that stupid, but who knows...It all comes down to keeping your fear in check, or not.

We could kidnap you, your sister and another women, put you in a construct in a barn and you could have a simulation of the experience?
What would you do?

Can happen but why post that here?
You just skip thing that you don't resonate with and go to a section you do like, if there is one.
Otherwise it's like entering Starbucks and complaining you don't like any of the coffees in there. Then you don't go to Starbucks.

What i would do is free the other two lasse. Then we would plan to ambush the kidnapper. Then we would dismember him and grill him u so that When the police arrive you can offer them a few manwiches for their trouble. It would be just like that Alfred Hitchcock episode where the wife killed her husband with a leg of lamb and served it to the detectives who were investigating the murder. she got off because no one could find the murder weapon

I think I would do what I initially thought: try to get the other two out with use of the crowbar. Not too much time. If it doesn't work, then get on with trying to loosen that grill so I could get out to get help. And prepared to sneak up on the dude to hit him good if he'd turn up.
In order to keep the surprise, I'd order the other two to STFU as in the series they were yelling and screaming. Can't have that!

And I seriously doubt I'd be so stupid as to drop my shoe at the side of the road. I wouldn't even run on the road but through the treeline.
Even as a teen I was reading a lot of espionage thrillers. I'd like to think I'd be a bit smarter than the girl in the series.

What do you think is the smartest and offers highest change of surviving such a thing?

Depends on too much other information.

Kidnapped by whom?
One guy that drove up in a van, asked for directions, and chloroformed the girls while they were looking at the map? Like a deranged serial rapist killer?

Or 20 gang members that kidnapped them at gunpoint like a human trafficking ring?

So are there regular patrols and a jailer? Like someone comes by every 10 minutes and checks on the girls? Or just one creepy guy that threw the girls in there and disappeared for 4 hours? Has it been days without food and water?

Are there video cameras in the barn?

You mention a crowbar...are there other tools? Can the contraption be broken down?

Were the girls awake when they were put in the barn and know the entrance/exit, so with a crowbar can set an ambush for whomever comes in?

Did they look out the windows and know where they are?
It's a barn in the "middle of nowhere."
Is it winter and they're 50 miles from civilization? Or did they see different neighbors in the distance and it's summer?

push a side of the contraption out far enough and one shoots through. But... the other 2 cannot get it to move with just the two of them.

Then it sounds like they're screwed. How would the 3rd person get back in to move the contraption for the other 2 if the contraption is keeping the escape hole from being used?

Why isn't one of the options "pass the crowbar through the contraption to the girl outside so she can go to the door and remove any locks?" Or even "use the crowbar to make a hole in the wall of the barn?"
Is it a barn, or a bunker?

Would you focus on the grill and getting out

If the grill lead to a little room with external access? Sure.
Or I might just use the crowbar on the front door or side of the "barn."
If the grill was just a covering to a sewer pipe, then no.

would you focus on getting the other 2 free so all of you can leave and defend each other in case the a-hole comes back unexpectedly?

Only if I had a realistic chance of actually getting the other 2 free.

Otherwise I would focus on my surroundings better and formulate a plan.

she's just a teenage girl

Oh. That would be a huge handicap.

the a-hole kept showing up with a tazer.

I'd ask him to trade the crowbar for the tazer telling him I'm going to take a pic for instagram.
And when he handed it over I'd taze him then hit him with the crowbar, then take a selfie for instagram.
