I signed up for Walmart's home delivery service.
$89 per year.
Today was the first day deliveries were available so I did a test purchase (can't really shop right now).
The order was filled and one thing was substituted with a higher quality product for the same price.
The order was delivered on time but the special instructions I left were not followed and my fridge stuff sat out in the heat for nearly 1/2 hour and they blocked my door with the order.

There was a $10 express delivery fee and I granted an additional $10 tip.

Has anyone else had experience with Walmart home delivery of groceries?
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, how would you rate your experience?

Walmart+ also offers Rx discounts, store pickup and gasoline discounts.

I ordered 15 items of which they only had 9 in stock and one as a substitution.
They gave me the option to order the out of stock items with an expected delivery date of next friday. I cancelled the out of stock items.

I've never really heard anything good about it.
I personally, won't do business with walmart.

If I had access to Walmart delivery where I live, I'd be all over it.

I have tried Walmart+ delivery during the 15 day free trial period. Cancelled it due to the $99 yearly fee. I like the convenience of it.

The driver's so far have been spot on with my directions, and I appreciate that. I feel it depends on who delivers the order to what kind of service you receive. Im sorry they didnt follow yours. Did you give feedback on your customer service? Were you able to get your money back?

I have ordered a 12 pack of single serve peaches, and opened the sealed box to find only 11. Walmart+ refunded the entire thing. No returns necessary.

Rate a 10 for convenience.

A locally owned store nearby sells organically grown veggies, fruits, honey and homemade cheeses, etc. I have been shopping from them for years. Better quality food. Supporting local farmers. I dig that. (They have been delivering a few times a week since Covid. They had to close the store for now.)

When I ordered by delivery from the supermarket here last year I ordered quite a lot, and esp heavier things.

Problem: they put the crates outdoors on the ground.
I had gone for delivery as my back wasn't too happy and no way could I lift the heavy crates, nor bend over a gazillion times to get the whole lot out.
And some stuff had to go in the fridge so I couldn't do it bit by bit.

Next time I asked them to put it on the staircase.
Normally they put it in the kitchen when you ask but with Covid that wasn't allowed. Maybe you can ask for that though?

It sux if they leave it out in the sun without letting you know. Over here they wouldn't do that as you still have to pay (pin only). Plus, I saw the van park and went to the door.

In any case, let them know so they get it right next time cos this isn't good!

Did you give feedback on your customer service?

Yes, I did, twice...plus I dropped the $10 tip to $7.

I'm still in my trial period.
I'm thinking the store delivery will be unnecessary as I heal.
But, store pickup might be handy as I hate shopping in walmart.
Plus, I can always like saving money on gas.

At $89 per year, its not too bad if I use it often enough.

I am kinda wary about butcher meats, bakery items and produce.
I check dates, freshness and quality before I buy.
I've seen the pickers in the store with their karts of bins and they just grab whatever they can find to fill the order.

Still, its handy for the regular stuff like canned and boxed goods.
Plus anything they can deliver (not just groceries) is also kinda handy.

I'm still deciding...

Actually my son's gf, did use it when,my son and his gf & I all had Covid..

But they alerted us as they were dropping it off by text, matter of fact got the text before they had even left..

I do know a couple times they did not have some of the items and she decided to go with Albertson's due to they would actually check with you while they were picking out the items so you had a choice right then to get something different and not have to do without that item..

But there was a couple times Walmart either did not deliver when they were suppose too and they gave her a credit when she complained

Myself I do not do the home deliver, I do the pickup at times but I allow time to be able to go in the store and find the few items they said they were out. Cause it always seems they are out of something I wanted.. Which they were most the time and I chose to get a off brand cause I needed it.. But at times I found the item with out a problem..

The thing I like is the fact they give you a choice for substitutions.
I ordered the Great Value 40 ct bottled water ($4.38) and they were out, I agreed to substitutions and they gave me Nestles 36 count water ($6.78) at $4.38. Better product at the lower price.

My local walmart has bare shelves most of the time. Bad weather in NOLA affects the truck deliveries plus a lot of people are letting walmart do their shopping. Most of the time, as a shopper, they do not have what you want on the shelves but it is in backroom stock.
The orders are filled from backroom stock but the shelves only get stocked at night. This means, while they may be out of something on the shelves, it may be available in the backroom which a shopper cannot access. Letting walmart shop (and substitute) increases the chances you will get what you want.

I used to get ticked when I went in to do my shopping and the shelves and coolers were bare. Sometimes, it looks like a store going out of business the shelves are so empty, but if you check online, it shows in stock.

Froogles (a cost+ grocer near me) has now started online order fill but only offers parking lot service. Again, many items not on the shelves shows online as in stock. Their shelf stock is quickly depleted as well now.

I imagine there will be a time in the future where walmart and many grocers will no longer have shelf stock. Trying to shop at these places, even right now as it takes hold, is nearly impossible. On the other hand, the higher dollar, name famous grocers do not offer internet order fill and their shelves are still fully stocked.

In Gulfport there are Neighborhood Walmart Markets (primarily grocery). I have never been in one so I don't know what their shelf stock is like or if they have internet order fill or home delivery?

No Walmart in Ireland, but most supermarket chains in Ireland offer home deliveries.

I am with Tesco, paying โ‚ฌ7,50 per month, for 4 deliveries.

Comes in handy, I don't need to go to the shops bigsmile

Walmart uses a company called โ€œSparkโ€, that uses independent contractors on an app. Albertsons and others tend to use Instacart for their deliveries, which is also ICโ€™s on an app.

On the delivery end, we scan the barcodes of the requested item, to be sure we actually have the correct item. Substituting is based on available options. Personally, I try to get something as close to the original as possible. Sometimes that is not possible, as the supply chain dictates what the store receives. (ProTip: pre-select an alternate choice in the app, so if the store is sold out, there is already an approved substitute.) The app has a chat function, so I advise the customer of the options, often with pics of the shelf displaying the items. Also, when we start your order, the system sends the customer a text informing them that it has begun, try to be available just in case your shopper needs your input. They might be out of the size you want, but other sizes may be available. If Iโ€™ve texted my customer and do not get a reply, I will either choose for you or refund that item, as I will NOT wait for 10 minutes in the aisle to see if I get a reply.

I only have one rule, if I wouldnโ€™t buy the item for myself, I wonโ€™t buy it for you. This is about package integrity, and quality of the meat or produce requested, not personal taste.
