What is that about ?

Eyes and smiles are common attractants and many women will have that as a preference . .. not sure if men place as much visual importance on smiles ???

Curious why many profile photos .... use a closed lip smile or no smile at all ???

The Mona Lisa comes to mind. Some seem to find her coy closed-lip smile alluring.

Personally I'm self-conscious about my smile because I have a broken front tooth.

Closed-lip or toothy, I appreciate smiles that exude warmth and joy.

Could be they do not like their teeth? I recently had a blind date and his teeth were not attractive. I could not imagine kissing him ever.

Then there are filters. Why use them? I guess it is about what people are comfortable with.

Hi Blondey! waving

I agree with you--a smile is a big deal to me. If someone does not have a smiling picture in their profile I do wonder if they are self-conscious about their teeth.

My last husband had a chipped tooth and was embarresed about it. All his pics were closed lipped smiles. I still fell in love with his personality and his 'Di Vinci' smile. Genuine people dont sweat the small stuff.

Smiles are important! Real smiles.
If it's about teeth why not go to the dentist and have them cleaned and/or fixed? Costs a bit, I know. But I'm on the lowest income and even I go to the dentist.

In any case, I skip men that don't look happy in their photo(s). And smiling is a big part of that! A genuine happy smile that lights up the eyes.

hmmmm... I think I fall into that category. I was going for the sultry look lol. But, I do have a toothy smile in my profile pics. A hint of a smile is important to me, no grumpy grouchos please.

As a pro photographer I'll let you know that as we do a toothy smile the facial muscles move upwards tending to close our eyes a bit,so it's a trade off. Some people show lots of upper gum when they do a toothy smile and that looks awful.

I appreciate your Input techno . I am not convinced closed lip smiles exude warmth and joy .. I guess there are always exceptions waving

I donโ€™t think I have ever seen you smile showing your teeth Ladywind . I am sure self esteem and how people perceive the health/sex appeal of teeth is a factor .. some people .. men in particular feel awkward /uncomfortable taking selfies .. I am sure that is a common reason .

Hi Bonnie waving totally agree . A smile is easily one of our most powerful and beautiful attributes ... so seeing someoneโ€™s smile is important to me also .

Hope your travel is going well and you are starting to feel relaxed flowers

i guess that depends on what you consider genuine and small stuff . Attraction is always important it helps keeps a relationship strong . When that dies so too does the relationship .

I love smiles crystal  . I know it can be difficult taking selfies .. Usually when we smile it reflects our reaction to a stimulus or feeling . Looking at a camera is not the same as smiling at someone you like . We lose some of the sensory cues . waving

Bastet .. your smile looks cheeky and mischievous . I do wonder what the point is of grumpy or indifferent profile photos . Not the best self marketing tactic waving
