Giving to charities can be good but at the same time those charities share your info with others in hopes you’ll donate to them too. In the end you get more junk mail to throw away. Even worse is when you sometimes get phone calls from charities you’ve never given to and you wonder how they got your phone number. Years ago I stopped donating to outside of my state charities and started giving to in state and local ones. Some charities have in state or local locations even if there main office is in another state. I send checks to my charities of choice but no phone number is on the check so all it takes is your street address on it and they can look up your phone number and of course do it without your consent. They call out of desperation and even if you tell them no or sorry they can say it’s okay they understand and ask for a smaller amount but still tell them the same thing. So do you think it’s right for them to share your info without asking you first since it’s you who donates? I say it’s wrong.

Yes it is unacceptable from them to share your personal information without your permission. I wonder what percentage of the donations the charities keep for themselves.

I donated to a charity years ago because they said
100% of the funds went to the intended. They
used my credit card and deducted it monthly,
supposedly for a year.

But I found that after a year they just kept taking
it, you could not contact them..I cancelled my
credit card and got a new one to unload
them...that charity still goes on.

So it is little surprise they sell the contacts,
the people they hire to run those places are
barracudas I do believe.

A lot of your charities are so called “non profit” but spend a considerable amount on things they say they can’t afford to send to you, yeah right. Even giving to those running for political offices is tax deductible but spend the money like crazy. Any charities should spend the donations they get 100% on the causes they support and nothing more.

My charities are with the local thrift store. The workers are volunteers and 100% goes to the animal shelter here in town.

I won't donate anything, for any reason.
Unless, it's cash, and I can do it
anonymously.

That’s great:thumbsup: ! Blah the only one charity I remember giving cash to was the Salvation Army during Christmas. Are the Girl Scouts considered a charity? If so then I’ve bought cookies from them with cash. Otherwise the two local and one in state I send checks to. It seems that the two local ones do have those who volunteer to help run it while some do get paid. Most charities that send mail back envelopes have a quote on their letterhead that say “send no cash” and of course you can donate online.

I do not think it is right for anyone to share your personal information unless you have authorized them to do so.
I am a giver and love giving to a selective few Charities. My choices.

God loves a cheerful giver. Not someone who feels threatened or forced to give to Anyone.

Personal choice.

I do give to charities of my choice and love giving to them, the others well you can send me all the mail you want in hopes I’ll give to you but it only gets thrown away in the end. My personal choice. When one charity has your info it starts the cycle of junk mail and if it doesn’t show a local or in state address, even if it has a local or in state office, no donation will come to you from me. I think the next time I get a call from one I’ve never given to I’ll have to ask them how did they get my number and see what answer I get.

Sharing information, do you think it's right?

It's absolutely NOT right!!

But since information (data) is one the most valuable commodities in the modern world, and even well known companies like Facebook have been in the news regarding dubious practices in collecting and selling "data", we the public/consumers do not have a leg to stand on, until the government's of the world declare it as an illegal practice...

Because, as things stand, when you place a checkmark in the I Agree (to your terms of service) checkbox, we are in effect resigning ourselves to the trust of the company...
