Topic: An online date.

I was recently asked by an online not unattractive female stranger if I was interested in an online date because we live so far apart, I declined, not being sure of the implications. I can understand this when already in a long distance relationship with someone, but straight off the bat so to speak, not so much. Was this a scam and would it descend in to sex chat quickly, it all seemed just a little bit 'iffy' to me. What do you think, was I seeing a Red Flag that wasn't really there? Or was it a scam?

I would have invited her to a live video chat, that does not involve revealing any of my personal information, to see what would have ensued afterwards.

No doubt a solicitation for "sex chat". "She" probably would have asked you for CC#s shortly.

No they aren't that patient or that smart. They usually ask for that 5 minutes after you say hi

I've done it before. It's actually catching on as a new thing with the young crowd. Really took off during the pandemic.

Some women think they can date online when a Man is in the next State or Country. So stupid there is no such thing as dating just online. IMO

Online chats are to get to know a Man until you plan to meet Inperson for a Real date.

Maybe you should have ask this Woman what does she expect from you Online dating?

Sometimes Questions will discourage whatever she was planning if it was a scam.

An online Daye os nothing more than dressing nice and each eating a meal while video chatting.

On this instance date is just something to call it. It easier to remember than online video chat eating time

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am not really sure if it was a genuine request for an online date, it could have been if it is a new thing, but it has never happened to me before. Yes, I should have asked a few more questions. I am not looking for a long distance relationship, but if I met the right person that could change. In the real world you usually chat with someone for awhile before asking them out on a date, this request for an online date came first, speed dating on steroids!! laugh
It all was all to quick, and I am no Daniel Craig, more than likely a scam.

Your Profile says you are not looking for anyone right now. You are here for the Forums.

So maybe that's why she asked for a Online date.

Men here for the Forums are not someone I would approach.

Hundreds of Men do not post on these forums.

You are right. Call me old fashioned but I prefer to do the asking, but I am not always actively searching for someone I do take a break. Even so, I am still contacted now and again.

Some people think sites like these are only for dating. They are more than that

Outright requests of that kind are mostly , out fishing with outdated lures of the plastic kind ..
I treat those as routine bait and generally swim away as fast as I can ...
you absolutely made the right call !!!!

I have gotten several of my Dates by contacting a man. There are hundreds of Men my age group online looking at Pictures most days and thinking about whom they desire to be with by a photo. I dont have time to waste for them to contact me. So, I will contact and make a conversation and see if they have any interest. It has worked well for me. On other dating sites. I am old fashion in WHOM I choose and why.

I learn more personally about a Man when we message personally. It is not for everyone to read what I say to a Man I am interested in meeting up with.
Most Good Paid dating relationship sites do not have forums.

The forums are a great place to be, joining in or just having a read, it's really worthwhile in my opinion. I have been a paid member on other dating sites before finding Mingle2. Here in Mingle2 we have the social side in the forums as well as the dating side, able to send messages to any member we choose. In my opinion this site as a Free member offers more than some paid sites I have been on in the past, long may it continue.

Men on the forums most do not want a message from any woman, unless a woman is on the forums constantly posting.
That is so ridiculously limited. No wonder many do not get a date off here. lol
