| Topic: Dating sites quiet round Christmas? | |

You often read/hear that around the holiday season there's an increase in new people on dating sites as people don't want to be alone with Christmas.
Have you ever noticed this to be true? I can't say I have. I always feel there are fewer people online during this time. I've never gotten the idea that there are more people (desperately) trying to find a date around Christmas time. |

More like there is an up tick in the activity of the scammers trying to cash in on those just looking for a new years hookup. Also there are usually more "dating" apps put out for valentine's day prep during that time of year.

A lot of people travel and are with their families over the holidays here so I would think that they would not have the time to be on here. Now maybe they do come on here after their family give them a guilt trip to find someone...lol

I think there are more people looking for someone at this time of year because they don't want to be alone during the holidays. There may be some that go to visit family and want to bring someone so they are not the only single person.

I think maybe fewer looking, because there is a lot more going on in the real world this time of year, parties, celebrations, etc, means more finding dates offline. Possibly more online in the new year looking for a new love because of all the Christmas break ups, due to the extra-relational dating going on caused by mistletoe and wine activity over the festive season.

Now maybe they do come on here after their family give them a guilt trip to find someone...lol Haha, that could be it! I've never experienced family nagging me for being single, thank goodness. Once seen a rom-com about a single woman going to her family across the States for Christmas. She didn't want to go as a single as she didn't want to get nagged at. So she found herself a guy willing to play her new partner. The poor bloke had a rough time as he didn't know her at all and she wasn't nice to him when they were alone. But in the end they did fall in love for real. Of course. I'd love to watch that one again, but cannot remember the title. |

But I really never noticed an increase of activity on dating sites around that time. |
