Yea throwing people into war. In december I went to take the air force officer test cause I was considering becoming an engineer for the air force. Had to go out of town and stay at a hotel where lots of other people joining all different military branches. (most were actually entry lv.. privates and what not) Anyway most seemed really excited to join the army and some were even talking about asking for early deployment. Either way they didnt seem like they were being thrown into war to me.

You have to be kidding me, right?? Those babies have no clue what they are walking into. Sure all the glory they think of and all the getting to shoot and possibly getting shot at...lol Hell they think they are playing a real life video game. Most will learn shortly a whole different attitude if they live that long.

you're exactly right. mostly just kids who don't realize how serious it is. talked into signing their lives away by a recruiter(death dealer) who has not a care in the world for what happens to those kids. most are overjoyed by the money. you know why a lot are so happy about getting sent away quickly? there's a quick ship bonus. i've known it to be 20k and up to 30k on some months. that's a good chunk of cash to just have handed to you

one recruiter almost made me sick. there was a kid who was too stupid to pass the entrance test, so of course they'd work with him and get him into classes. you know the job he wanted? truck driver. the most dangerous occupation in iraq. that's just disturbing beyond disturbing at how much effort they'll put into getting a near brain dead kid sent off to get himself killed

Actually, quite a few of the ones I talked too had friends or family that were also in the army. One guy had even served before. Either way noone is throwing anyone anywhere is my point. They signed up, they made a decision. Some people are proud to serve their country.

You act like its some death sentence. Look at the numbers 3941 troops died since we initially went up till Jan 08. The only number of troops deployed I could find was done in Jan 05 so I know more have deployed but still in 05 they had sent out (1,048,884) if you do the math thats less than a 4% mortality rate. Its even less if we knew how many more troops we have sent since then. That is hardly a death sentence.

That is very despicable.

So, first you say they are too dumb to not know better, despite most recruits being white southerners from middle class neighborhoods with a lengthy public education and majority a graduation from highschool. And, then you say they are looking for glorification of shooting others and being shot at.

What a sick mind! How degrading you are towards our US military servicemen and women!

the only unamerican people in this country are those who blindly follow the power, trusting it's words. and the folk that think it's unamerican to have a negative opinion of their leaders.

this is america, it's about difference. it's about patriotism. it's not about loyalty to the government.

Wait, it's not about be loyal to the country, which the government governs? That's a treasonous statement, no matter how you want to twist your statement.

Having no loyalty to your country, which is only a state because of the government elected by the people, means you are opposed to the entity it supports, which is the US citizen.

Traitorous statement. You sound like an anarchist.

most high school educations, especially in the south, amount to about middle school level for those in other countries.

You are using our monopoly, government-run education system and saying it only educates them to middle-school level despite most going on and succeeding in college as the basis to point out that our US soldiers are really dumb? lol, really? Is that your final answer?

From the points you made, your own wording, you were the one that painted the picture I concluded. It took a very simple breakdown of the words to get there, it isn't based on your other beliefs that I have no insight on. It was from your statements alone, which are enoug basis to come to a conclusion as it is structured and simple deduction.

Why not stating clearing what you mean instead of allowing people to jump to such easy conclusions as it comes directly from your own words?

And, the answer is no, this country is not what it was founded on. It ended with FDR's New Deal, which was a direct detachment from the founding principles and descent into an ever increasing government that will eventually become a nanny socialist government that will strip individual right for society's best interest first. Hayek argued it so well back in the '30s already.

However, we do still have a representative government, elected by the people, in which only 90% are worthless big government scum.

that's what i was thinking. our founding fathers were quite the treasonous bastards. but hey, they could have just loved the government they had and went with it. after all, it semi represented them.

Funny? You said that legal adults who are full citizens, able to vote and thus are on the same standing as you, are "babies that have no idea what they are walking into (clueless)". Legally able to vote, wed, and given full rights of adults and you call them babies and clueless They are too ignorant and childish to make such decisions. This isn't 1941, 1964. These men have full access to vast amounts of information, they know exactly what they are getting into.

Not only do you call them clueless babies, but you now say their minds are not theirs as well? what?

How the whole fact that you are saying war is horrible and so sad these clueless drones are being led off to war to die, as stated in other posts and in ton, and yet still you are able to fill these posts with laughing faces is beyond me.

I take offense to that. I am from the South and consider myself very educated. I am from SW Louisiana and my High School does very well. I graduate with a 3.89 a 28 ACT score(which I scored as a Junior and only took once) and am about to graduate college with a degree in engineering. I also know a lot of people around here and they are well educated.

i was merely stating that education in this country counts for squat, that goes for the majority of college education as well. after all, college education is more and more about liberal brain washing rather than actual education.

you came to your own conclusions, i painted nothing. it was your own opinions and biases that allowed you to label me in such a way.

and i'd argue that our system isn't truely representitive of the people. quite often politicians vote against what their public wants, less often do they get voted out. if they were truely representing us, there would be no money given by corporations. your average joe would stand a chance at public office without having to be a millionare. and hell, they'd actually sit there and vote instead of bsing just enough to keep their seats.

i have read all this and i really was not going to say anything but changed my mind. america is not what it used to be but it is still the best country. no we don't have what we used to. i didn't vote for senators and congressmen to get a raise or to recieve the same amount of money for life for a 4 year job. give me that job. a true american would take it for free. i didn't vote yes on a lot of stuff that passed. we don't have the freedom we used to have but still have more than other countries. i went to war, i spilled my blood so you could have the freedom to complain or be outraged. yes it is your right and i hope you use it. this is still my country and i would still give my life for it. god bless all our troups even the ones that don't want to be there. war is not pretty. and i can assure you any person who is not scared is a fool. the reason our country is in the trouble it is, is because we the people are no longer the people. if we stood up for our rights and made our senators and congressmen do what our wishes are instead of letting them do what they want (power and money) we can fix this problem
